Everybody believes in gun control to some degree, It would probably be tough to find somebody who thinks convicted felons should still have their second amendment rights, it's just a matter of where any of us draw the line, assault weapons have supposedly been banned for years and if thats true then why do we need new laws to ban them.

I don't. And just so you don't try to claim I'm taking it out of context, felons have nothing to do with gun control. Should a 1st time drunk driver be denied his DL the rest of his life? Those decisions should depend on the crime. Take a life (in either case), then no. Not every convicted felon committed a violent crime.

So, you weren't aware the AWB expired (1994-2004)? Seriously? Congress let it expire.

When the doorbell rings I answer the door, all has been ok so far, when I want to go to town I don't take my gun with me, all has been ok so far so paranoia as far as self defense goes doesn't interfere with my everyday life.

Do you guys seriously believe the government is threatening to come to your house and gather up your guns? I haven't seen anything in this new attempt at changing the gun laws that says they are coming to your house and taking your guns, they do seem to be threatening to control certain guns and magazines but I believe your deer rifles, shotguns and handguns aren't included in this... Whether anything at all will happen remains to be seen, I don't think anything is set in stone, as far as I know anyway... I don't expect them to come and get my 22 because if they do I won't have anything to dispose of a stray dog now and then and I'm not looking forward to trying to do that with a kitchen knife.

Spoken like a true Fudd. Don't worry, they day will come they'll want yours as well. Then it'll be too late to wished you'd have learned a little more, and done nothing a little less.

A Virginia state lawmaker brandished an AK-47 on the floor of the State House of Delegates Thursday.

“A lot of people don’t know that in many locations in the commonwealth, you can take this gun, you can walk in the middle of Main Street loaded and not be in violation of the law,” Morrissey said on the floor, according to the Examiner, assuring other lawmakers that the gun was not loaded.

Commonwealth is a traditional English term for a political community founded for the common good. Historically, it has sometimes been synonymous with "republic".

There's that irony thing again, as it's now evidently "common good" to ignore (and violate) the US Constitution.

After being stripped of his law license over eight years ago, Del. Joe Morrissey could be on his way to regaining his license after the VA Supreme Court ruled on Friday that restoration was possible if Mr. Morrissey meets certain conditions.
Del. Morrissey will have to prove that he’s completed 60 hours of continuing legal education over the previous five years as well as pass the written segment of the VA State Bar exam, according to the split decision by the VA Supreme Court.

I do certainly hope you don't sacrifice your voting privileges believing that, our vote is the only effective weapon we have against government intrusion into our lives... Even if that were true, my and your life would be totally destroyed and our families would no longer be safe in their everyday lives... If our government were to turn against it's people, it is likely our country would be under threat from other countries that don't care much for us now.

Fighting the war you are talking about would not require a weapon of any kind as it would be totally useless in that situation... If our government comes after us, the only hope we have is if the military refuses to carry out whatever orders they might be given... I seriously doubt you would stand your ground against a grizzly bear wishing to do you harm, if you had a viable defense against said grizzly bear you might take a chance and stand your ground but if you had none it is unlikely you would try, you would have no chance against the military.
