Default Have you ever fell overboard?

Had a 10' flat bottom, went fishing with grandson.
Having two back back operations, used a lawn chair for support

We fished well over 2 hours and I was flipping the baits around pretty good, over the
left shoulder, right shoulder, you name it.

Getting over confident flipped one time to many.
Went over board and fell straight down chair, pole, glasses and all.
Went down about 6 foot deep, not knowning which way was up
keep swimming deeper........until it dawn on me that I had life vest
on and let it do its job.

Grandson claims I pop up like a bobber.
Try as both of could could not get back into the boat without
    tipping it over.

Across the lake a patoon boat say our troubles and came over
to help. Getting into the patoon boat was just as bad.
It took every ounce of energy before I got onto the patoon
boat, with the owner standing on the other corner to keep it
    from tipping.

Picture just before I fell in.

During our annual fishing trip to Michigan with a whole bunch of guys one year, I was fishing from the back deck of my brother's bass boat. I was sitting on a pedestal type seat that had the back support missing. I hadn't had a bite in a while and suddenly my bobber went down deep. I got over exited and reared back to set the hook. I ended up tumbling backwards out of the boat. My brother helped me get back in the boat.

We had a hat that was made out of old underwear that was the "award" for doing something boneheaded. The winner had to wear the hat to the local bar where we would eat supper. Guess who wore the hat that day....

Yep!! Flounder gigging in a 13' skiff and my son decided to plop down just as I started to swing around to get a flounder I passed over to far to gig. Put me off balance and in i went. Trolling motor sliced my shoulder pretty good and scratched my face. Fortunately I was in 4' deep water and was able to catch the boat and climb back in. Yes, I got the flounder.

Had a 16' john boat I'd put a front deck on. Took it out for some night fishin' with a Coleman lantern. Stepped from the bank to the deck
and was holdin' the lantern in my hand and grabbed for the seat on the front deck.....missed the seat, slipped down between the boat &
bank and went under the boat cause the water dropped off the bank into 10' of water. Fishin' buddy loaned me the end of the paddle
and pulled me into the boat. Never tried it again. Ain't been fishin' since without having my PFD on before getting into a boat or kayak.
He is still my fishin' buddy.

    Yep ... been there/done that !!

Night fishing for Bass ... standing up, and leaned against my pedestal seat ... it turned & I lost my balance. Rod in hand, over the side I tumbled ... but, I had the presence of mind to grab the side of the boat as I went over. Climbed back in, over the side of the boat ... took my clothes off & wrung them out, then put them back on & continued to fish. When I started getting chilled, about an hour later, I went back to the car & turned on the heater, disrobed again & dried out my clothes (while my partner went back to fishing). To top it all off ... we got the car/trailer stuck while trying to trailer the boat (low water/bad ramp), and my partner waded into waist deep water to settle the boat onto the trailer (& disconnect it from the car). Then got on a small tractor & pulled the car out ... and while I was bailing out the car, he hitched the tractor to the trailer & pulled the boat out. (tractor was at the Marina ramp for just that purpose, and we were friends with the Marina owners)

luckily no I have not, I'm careful, but that does not mean it could not happen to me. Glad all were ok.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

As you mature your balance starts to get a little bad. I have to slow down and be extra careful now.
