Well, I'm sure you know more about it than anyone. But just seems when you take the cap off anything it can go as high as it wants. Just saying. No I have no idea what the cap should be, but when it was removed, ah well, that's why I never go here.

RVP is a big city gas. it is for big cities who require more regulations on gas. It's not winter/summer gas, it's the diffrence in the weights, one wieghs 7.9 and the other weighs 9 lbs a gallon. it has something to do with clean air and vapor recovery. the big problem is Wall Street day traders are absolutly breaking the U.S out of pure greed and they are making all fuel jobbers and convience store owners look like they are gouging prices. OK I fell better.

I don't have a clue as to what the price should be and don't claim omniscience like all the utopian big government types do who think they know best at how every aspect of how society should be conducted.

But from my limited reading of history I do know that the free markets have proven to be much better at supplying the things the folks need and want way better than any of the command economies have ever done from their foolishly held fabled delusional positions of omniscience.

Mr. LBM it seems you repeat that little "preaching sentence" at the bottom of all your posts. I highly recommend that you take all your Meds. in the morning, and an extra Valium. Buddy, you need to chill out, or breath in a paper bag.

demand out paces refinery capacities in the spring ... fishingRod
Demand has nothing to do with it, the US is drowning in gas. Our refineries are the best most efficient in the world.

HowStuffWorks "Why is summer fuel more expensive than winter fuel?"

Twice every year in the United States, the fuel supply changes. It's known as the seasonal gasoline transition. This change is the biggest reason for the price hike in summer gasoline. Depending on the time of year, gas stations switch between providing summer-grade fuel and winter-grade fuel. The switch started in 1995 as part of the Reformulated Gasoline Program (RFG), which was established through the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) started the RFG program in order to reduce pollution and smog during the summer ozone season, which occurs from June 1 to Sept. 15 [Source: EPA].

It is NOT just an accident that we are headed for $5.00/gallon on gasoline.

It has been Obama's intention all along. Here is a quote by Stephen Chu, Obama's Sec'ry of Energy

"Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe."

Here are some examples of Obama's action to raise the price of gasoline:

    1) Stopping the Keystone Oil Pipeline

    2) Delaying the approvals for offshore drilling off Louisiana

    3) Continuing the blockage of drilling in ANWR (Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge)

    4) Blocking offshore drilling in Alaska

    5) Blocking exploration offshore between Cuba and the USA

    6) Stopping research for converting coal to gasoline

I think I read where Saudi Arabia reduced production after they said they would increase it. Sell less crude get same income.
