I think you'd be happy with a Lab mix that's has been bred with a smaller breed. I once had one that was an all around buddy, loved to go out in the boat and would go chase down a broken off bobber on command. I'm sure he had some english setter in him as he had long hair that was feathered and would point to boot. In his older years, I could take him bow hunting for deer with me and I would love to watch his reaction as he laid still when I would call a group of does in close. If my children grow up to be half as smart as that dog, they'll all do just fine in life.

Just make sure to have some tasty treats for her while on and around the boat. Funny how dogs equate treats and something being fun. I'd expect that it might take a while for her to get her sea legs. We forget what a weird sensation that is.

    Her first night with me.
Name was Poe, but thinking Trinity or Scarlet as a new name. She is an awesome dog!

She's a pure chocolate dob. What a beauty; I love them with natural ears.

Wishing you both a long and happy time together! Thanks for adopting.

Whole lot of great dogs in up in the shelter. We just adopted one late 2011, and she is probably the best dog I've ever had.

Great looking dog...I hope everything works out for the two of you!

We have a thirteen year old Chocolate Lab that is waning. We have considered a Labradoodle when she is gone. Smaller than a lab and doesn't shed.

Two of our friends have had Wheaton Terriers. Cute dogs, well behaved, hypoallergenic (sp?), and pretty smart...

Anyway...good luck to you and...I would go with Scarlet!
