Speaking of John Wayne as an actor, I always thought his best job was in The Searchers closely followed by The Shootist. That said True Grit is still my favorite JW movie.

I don't really agree that he was a great actor............but............I still get at least one John Wayne movie a week out to watch. He was the western and always will be. I just wish that he had made even more movies than he did. I also agree that Silverado was the only newer western that even came close.

The movies were old and I was young. He may not be the best but from my memories he was. Dont forget all the war movies he played in either. Some good ones there too.![]()
I was never really a fan of John Wayne, don't get me wrong I have seen a lot of his movies but I'm more of a Clint Eastwood fan. I probably wont see True Grit in the theatres but will wait for the DVD. I agree with SteveJ also, Robert Duvall was one of the best. Sam Elliot was also pretty good.
Mike Perry
Finally got to see it. Great movie.
I'll see it someday, hopefully in a theater. Although I doubt it. Last time I went to teh theater was for a Harry Potter moive. Had some psycho women sit behind me, she got more animated with the volume and intensity of the movie. 2/3 through the movie the ushers finally convinced her to go out to the lobby. The poor teenagers sitting next to her we scared for thier lives, they couldnt get any closer to the person next to them. She was abusing the hell out of my chair, standing, flaling her arms, etc. When the music calmed down so did she. It was wierd. My future daughter in law thinks she is a scitso (sp) and the volume triggered her episodes.
Scarry part is I saw her driving home after the show. I sure hope the stereo in her car didn't work.

Quick, someone teach me how to fish so I can win this tournament!!!
I don't go to theaters no more since I heard about the farmer taking his rooster to the show.
