Ann adjusted the antenna last night so I could watch To Kill a Mockingbird.

Atticus Finch has fought the good fight, but he's lost. Tom Robinson, a black man wrongly accused of raping a white woman, will go to jail. As the white audience (seated in the lower courtroom), files out of the room, Atticus collects his belongings.

But, the black audience (seated on the balcony) stays put the entire time. As Atticus prepares to leave the courtroom, the crowd begins to stand up. Reverend Sykes turns to Atticus' daughter, Jean Louise (called Scout) and says "Miss Jean Louise, stand up. Your father's passing."

That's powerful, tore that up. Always have, always will.

Fired up the smoker for a brisket bright and early this morning:



That's it, pour the smoke to it. Pecan of course. After several hours, looks nice. Still working on developing the smoke ring to go deeper, works though:



Yes, cheese cake will be involved this evening according to Ann. Good thing school doesn't start until the 21st. Going to surgery tomorrow morning, Ann will be toting me in her Jeep there. She say's I'm rude when I come out of anesthesia. That's okay, the way I roll.

Yesterday a cousin who lives in Baton Rouge called me on the phone to ask me for my phone number...seriously!
She is a retired government worker.

Back when everyone had land line and no one had cell phones, I had a boss call me at my house and ask me where I was.....I told him you figure it out and hung up on him! Good thing they really needed me for that job or I may not have had it after that. We are still good friends by they way.

I had a similar issue once Dwyane. One of the shift foreman was calling to try and fill a post. He called my house and mistakenly asked for the next guy on the list. I said wrong number and hung up. Then I ran and jumped in the truck and left. The phone started ringing before I made it out the driveway, as he caught his mistake. I kept on going so I could "honestly" say I was not home if he called for me. Next time I saw him he just looked at me and said"you got me little buddy". We laughed about it many times over the years. I found it less funny when I was the one calling looking for someone to work.

FELLOWS, ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO AN END!!! SLAB HAS ASKED ME TO CLOSE THIS THREAD, AS IT IS SO LONG. HE SAID IT FIRES OFF TO MANY EMAILS EVERYTIME SOMEONE POSTS. BUT, WE CAN START A NEW ONE. SO FOR TONIGHT LET'S HAVE A LITTLE CONTEST TO NAME THE NEW THREAD. WE CAN CONTINUE CALLING IT SHOOT THE BULL AND JUST ADD A 2 TO THE TITLE. OR MAYBE SOMEONE WANTS A NEW NAME. i WILL CLOSE THIS ONE LATE TOMORROW NIGHT(TUESDAY). YES I USED CAPITAL LETTERS, I KNOW....HAHA
