I am coming to understand this bflowers. Mine are only 9 and 6, but it seems like only a couple years ago that the 9 year old was learning to walk. I have become the adult that tells school aged kids to quit wishing these years away, as they will soon pass quicker than you want.
It is not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves, that will make them successful human beings.

    Default poignant cartoon

One of the songs that haunts me when I think of times I missed spending with my kids was "Cats in the Cradle"

This cartoon series is usually pretty silly, but today's was pretty spot on.

This is the two of them in 2006 in my Sneak Boat. Grow up fast don't they?

Way too fast! I thank God everyday for the time I got to spend with my kids fishing when they were younger. Seems like they are always to busy nowadays.

Our job is to have them, raise them and send them on to do the same. It is in God's plan. Merry Christmas.

Went to my favorite butcher today, Breaux's Mart. Walked straight in the back as usual because I like to choose my cuts (Winn Dixie won't let me do that). Paul Breaux (the main butcher, one of five brothers who own the place) asked me if I was in there for another pork loin. Said no, in for my annual ribeye rack for Christmas. He pulled a few out, and I had him cut one about 14" long (the good end of coarse), a choice cut - not select, top of the line. Told him he has to give me a break on the advertised price of $11.99 a pound because I recalled buying them at $5.99 a pound. He said "Randy - and how many years ago has that been?" He's right, about 10 years I guess. He sold it to me for $8.99 a pound - $1.00 a pound over the wholesale price (Iowa beef), and boneless. Will be smoking that Christmas day.

Taking a break dealing with leaves. Massive amount. Used to burn them, but Ann doesn't care for the burned areas around. Need to get this done before the rain hits this week while I'm at work. The huge sycamore's drop some massive leaves:

The nasty copperheads like to hide under those, so need to get them up.
