    Unhappy Prayers

My little cousin Kaitlin is back in the hospital and needs prayers. Much of the few short years she's been alive have been spent in and out of the hospital. Lots of surgeries and complications. She was born with Spina Bifida...take some time and look it up. You hear about it and you see her and you think she had SB and she is in a wheelchair and thats it. But there is so much more to it. It affects her Brain, Eyes, Teeth, Hearing, Handwriting, Bladder and Bowel Function, Scoliosis, Back Pain, Hip Dislocation, Club Foot and Paralysis from Mid Thigh down. Then there are all the mental abnormalities that are just beginning to worsen. This is a tough, tough Disability with a huge learning curve.

They'd been having problems with her for the last couple weeks of school. Sunday they took her in because vomiting and bleeding vaginally. On the way there she had a minute seizure during which she was unresponsive to them. She had a bp 145/102 at the hospital and they found a problem with her shunt, they gave her morphine for the BP and pain and tapped the shunt. Every thing was good then, she was back to her normal self for the first time in weeks. <Happy and Bossy lol> They are scheduled tomorrow at noon to have surgery for the bleeding, but now the doctors have found a resistant strain of E COLI in her bladder.

Things aren't looking too good with the E COLI problem. They'll try treating it for the next 3 weeks with an IV. Any good thoughts their way will be appreciated

The shunt is working, the polyp has been removed and carterized, the UTI is responding well enough to the meds we may get to home PO and the blood pressure is being adressed so we can figure out why it is up. She feels awesome and is back to her normal self for the first time in 5 or 6 weeks.

Just saw this for the first time. Glad to hear she's doing better, and prayed for her continued improvement, as well as for the rest of the family.
    Take care,

My heart and prayers go out to your family and to Kaitlin. It's hard enough when it is an adult that is having problems but I can't imagine what this little girl and her family is going through at this time. Faith will get you through whatever lies ahead. He will always be with you.

Thank you all. She is doing much better. They were able to get the infection under control enough to come home. She'll finish up here treatment in Alexandria.
