    Gene -
W&F just announced they had re-opened the stretch of shoreline between the south point of Marsh Island and Freshwater Bayou. That's good, but everything else that was closed yesterday remains closed. A buddy was on a guided trip out of Cocodrie Saturday, was stopped by agents, and told to dump their specks and get out of the area - CLOSED!
If you must head south now, I'd suggest you try Calcasieu Lake. My haunts (V-Bay and Rock.) have been a bit poopie lately.

Gene, I don't have heavy pockets like you do...lol.. It has to be either one or the other..lol.. unless you gonna fund the trip for me to go to cameron, I can hand deliver the lease money and head down there, otherwise it will be the following weekend. As far as I know, Cameron is still open to fishing, I think it is far enough west that it isn't affected YET, will probably call first before to head down there.

The weather forecast looks pretty good - if you can believe it!
I'm sure the "bird-fishing" on Calcasieu Lake is good now - but I'm also certain that everyone in southwest Louisiana knows about it! Lots of competition. Should be plenty of bull reds along the Cameron jetties, too, and if you have an offshore breeze, the surf from Holly Beach to Johnson's Bayou can be outstanding for specks! And you don't even need a boat to fish it! Just drive along looking and park and wade-fish the promising spots.
Don't know anything about shrimping or crabbing over there, but it ought to be decent around Rockefeller with this full moon.
    Bon chance, cher.

and if you gonna fish between the ferry and holly beach, bring you some nose clips/plugs...lol.. that pogie plant sure does stink... If you are bringing your boat, the jetty pier will probably be pretty busy with people but if you go south of it just a little ways, you can usually get on some of them big bulls and black drum. Last time I was out there in a boat we went to the first break in the jetties past the pier and went through to the other side and caught a good mess of channel mullet(that's what Dwyane called them). That was some good eating.
