Oil spill, heavy river run-off, or whatever, I just had to go take a look this morning.
Like last year at this time, western Vermilion Bay was pretty grungy, but it was full of redfish! Caught 18 on a spinnerbait and one on fly, but only kept one 25-incher. Several others were legal, but barely. Also had a lovely flounder, and I bet I missed as many fish as I caught! First-day jitters, I guess.
Anyway, fish between Mud Point and the northwest bank - the fish are shallow and tight against the shoreline.
