My dad arrived safely and my I-pilot is installed. Looking for some fish to cooperate! Fished around Farrington and south to the timber. It seems as though the fish have followed their instincts right out of the area, but thankfully, I'll be following a couple nice tips right toward the crappie tomorrow (because it can be problematic when all I've got to follow is my instinct).
The I-pilot works fine--definitely going to take a little while to get used to the fact that with the Powerdrive V2, there is no footpad! I'm relieved to discover (at least in lights winds) that the array of automatic functions on the I-pilot remote control covers most of the bases. I'm a little worried, however, that if I were to install a rodholder on the trolling motor, the I-Pilot would transform into a nearly autonomous fisherbot.
You know where my dad and I will be tomorrow!

Get em' tomorrow Jeremy. I hope you and your dad have a great day together catching slabs.
How big is the owners manual for that I-pilot... is it about as thick as the Broadway, N.C. phonebook?

Jeremy,
Hope you and your dad wear 'em out tomm. Based on todays outcome personally experienced and observed. I'd say it's a safe bet plnethy of fish left for you guys to pursue.

Thanks for the well wishes!
I'll give an abbreviated report in lieu of a double, post tournament report tomorrow:
Fished a full day but couldn't find them until the last 4 hours. It's not because they weren't biting--but because my dad and I weren't where they were biting. Once we found them, we put around 20 keepers in the boat, with several over 12", but nothing over 13.5". Tomorrow...we'll see!! The largest 3 fish hit jigs.

Well, we had some fun out on the glassy water fishing CAPP's tournament. We caught lots of nice fish up and down the lake...from just south of the Farrington timber, to just north of Ebeneezer. Our 7 fish weight of 10.09lbs put us at 7th place. The winning weight was 12.25 or so--big fish being 2.20 lbs (I think). Winning jig color was white/white hair on 16' channel breaks. Thank you CAPP for the well run event! This was the first tourney I've fished with my dad in at least 4 years, I believe.
Thank you North Carolina Crappie.com folks who helped plan, construct, and distribute the condos a while back!!! My dad and I caught all our fish on the C.com condos today--usually 15-20' down.
I'm too worn out to re-format yesterday's report so I'm going to let it stand as is.

Another peaceful evening on Jordan Lake. The I-pilot spot lock works great without wind:) My dad and I started out fishing the same pattern as yesterday--the tops of C.com condos. No keepers! In fact, we didn't catch a keeper for the first hour or so. It wasn't until I let the boat stray into 20' near the mouth of Seaforth Creek (I think that's the same of it) that we found them sitting on the bottom. Then after the sun sank below the trees, we found them in 12-14'. Minnows or jigs (white/chart or brown/chart). We loaded in the dark, drove home and roasted hot dogs on a campfire at the house.
Looks like tomorrow, we may try to fish the PM again after a few chores around the house.
How did everyone else do today? Come on, I saw plenty of you out there fishing this afternoon--report!!!

Serenity and a gray misty air filled in over Jordan Lake this afternoon. I only saw a couple other boats on the water...so imagine:
Jordan Lake
70F air
Glass calm
No boat waves
And my dad and I caught fish! We caught fish in the same areas as yesterday, and probably more fish total. However, The average size dropped dramatically today. We found most of our fish in the Seaforth area south. The best jig color seemed to be white/chart. Sorry brown/chart & gold/chart, you'll be back in the spotlight soon.
There was some kind of big fire in the Ebeneezer recreation area...does anyone know what that was? The column of black smoke was at least 20' wide at the base!
Chief was out there today...I heard he broke off again today! He should probably use stronger line so he doesn't lose so many jigs!!! I won't steal his thunder, but I know (and could be assumed without my saying so) he caught a nice mess to clean up.
Unfortunately, my dad flies back to central Illinois tomorrow. We've both got to go back to work.
