No, I wish. Havent been in a couple of weeks, every good day Ive been at work. I havent been able to find a good hungry school of crappie there in a while. Got to try new places I guess.
Good report and good fishing. Need to get out too.

Robeson was wall-to-wall boats. Everyone was catching lots of dinks and tossing them back for the next boat to catch. I pulled 2 keepers out of Robeson and then headed south. I ended up with 10 but could have caught more If I had stayed in the area I was having a consistent bite. But, I explored. I made it into the S-turns, where I didn't get a bite (but didn't fish it for long). NC Crappie Girl and copilot found some fish today, as did IMFSHN and I even saw the SS Bad Company pull out but didn't have the chance to see how WhompusCat fared. The best I heard was 10 keepers...IBNFSHN said he matched my total but he probably doubled me up and didn't want to hurt my feelings. I'm sure some others did better as well.
It was all about jigs today. I caught only 1 keeper on minnows. The rest came on various of chartruese tube combos. The most keepers chose the color listed above and plain ol' blk/chart. However, for a while, chart/blk specks was the only color getting any action.
Last year's report (2009 3/8)
Nice work, Crat. It's interesting to compare today with your report from a year ago. Water temp is 4 degrees colder and they're much deeper now than a year ago. Hopefully the warmup this week will kick 'em in gear.

The guy you talked to in the parking lot who claimed to have caught 10 keepers was imfishn; when i actually counted them at home 3 of them must have escaped thru the drain plug on the way home as i could only find 7.
green/chartruece curly tail took most of the keepers with minnows catching most of the dinks and several of the keepers.
dang you guys hurt my feelings. we fished from about 2-4:30 yesterday afternoon but couldn't get them to bite! I didn't see you as I was trying to get out ahead of the crowd. glad yall caught some.
good job..Crat...

Got off work a couple hours early Monday. Launched out of Robeson, maneuvered through a handful of boats and headed south. Didn't bring minnows with me--it was all or nothing on the jigs. From 3:30-4:47, I caught 13 keepers--with a streak of 8 in a row keepers. Then they shut off. Did anyone else notice that the big bite shut off after 5pm, of was it just me? I thought I saw a couple reports pinpoint the best fishing around mid day--at which time I was still at work tending to the Sun Perennial Trial.
Well, while they were biting, I found them all in a very tight band from 20-21.9'. As soon as the jigs were over 22' or more, the fish shed a pound of average weight. I caught 10 of 13 keepers on straight chartreuse--not a chart combo. Interesting.
It's been great reading the other successful reports--I think it's safe to call it spring.
