    Default Tillery Sunday

Tore the transducer off the boat first thing sunday morning so fishing blind. Did finally find some crappie in the coves in about 18 fow. Pulling jigs probably caught 20 or so. All would have been good keepers. Only kept 9 huge ones for the grease tonight. About 1 or so the bite just stopped and I noticed the guys fishing the bank began slaying them shallow. Guess they all moved up when the water warmed up a few degrees.

Tried the bushes up shallow with minnows yesterday afternoon. Kept another 10 nice ones. Caught in about 4 or 5 fow in brush. The tighter you got to the brush the bigger they got. lol.

Looks like if the weather holds I will be going back to Tillery Saturday! I heard they were in the trees later in the day than we were there, and now you are catching them, so they must be on the move!

I think they are starting out in the coves and moving to the bank as the water warms. Try mountain creek on left bank as you go in. That is where we caught them yesterday. Couple of my students caught 15 or so in Woodrun cove yesterday as well on the bank. Good luck Saturday.

Fished upper end of tillery again yesterday afternoon. Females have moved off bank already. Everyone was struggling. Did manage 8 for the grease, but they were all males in about 4-6 fow casting jigs. Can the females be laid out already?

    Matt,
Did you make it to Hickory Saturday. Caught probably 20 in the middle of the cove probably 16 to 20 foot deep Sunday.

We did not make it to Tillery, My girlfriend had a little sinus problem. We also had some of our family and friend's kids playing their first baseball game of the season, so we went and watched them instead. That was fun but all I kept thinking is "this sure would be a nice day to be fishing"....

Had a tough time Saturday, but went to a different cove Sunday and did ok. Actually was striper fishing and the birds were killing the shad in one cove. Got in there and no stripers, but lots of crappie.
