Hey Red. I got them for 1.99 at the station near upper barton ramp last week. Have they gone up since then?

We have used jigs for years and it can run into some money if you don't check around before you buy. I buy most my grubs on line now you can get a better deal but I only buy what I know works good for me. the jig heads is where you will spend the money I have found that I come out better buyin weedless jigs with a good weed guard on them (NOT EASY TO FIND)!!!
Fish don't care how much you spent on your boat!!
There's a fish stocking pond down here in Pender County on US 421 that sales minnows by the lb. It's $13 if I remember correctly. That'll buy you 250-350 minnows. About as cheap as you can go live bait fishing,IMO.
What's chief got to say about this.
Not as much as it cost for them to get their cut and colored.
Back during the Winter we were buying 14-18 dozen minnows per trip. I can buy a whole lot of jigs for that price. The only problem is I can't get the crappie to bite as consistently in cold weather on jigs. This time of year I am 100% jigs.

cant believe you would ever switch to minners/ i usually can catch 10 or 12 fish on same jig. cant say that for a minner.then you lose dozen or more minnows. gotta buy dern bucket and a net. corks, just not worth it when fish are bitin. minners work better in the winter months for me, but if your name is chief it dont matter

Never said I was gonna switch to minnows. I guess the real purpose of this thread was to see how much people were paying for minnows vs what I pay for jigs. I fish exclusively with jigs and have since I gave up night fishing with minnows. Back in Ga where I am from I fished year round with jigs, long line trolling and did pretty good year round. Not to say got a limit everytime but rarely was I skunked. I agree enoman, you catch way more fish 1 jig vs.1 minnow. Thanks for all the replies guys.

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.newly LIKED above post
