Once again it was a nice day to go fishing, but not a good day for catching
!! Fished in deep water, not so deep water, and shallow water, but just could not find any crappie that wanted to jump on the hook. Water temps ranged from 50-53 deg, tried jigs and minnows with no luck. Talked to a few different people crappie and bass fishing with the same story, just not catching much. I was lucky enough to get the pull of a few nice size rock bass and a 2 lb green carp. If the weather holds out like the weatherman says it will I would guess possible next week will be the start of em coming up around here. Sure hope so I got a craving for some fresh fried crappie. Congrats to those who have found em on Norman and Kerr Scott,
ya'll sure are making my mouth water!!
Difference between day and night: Day= one rod, one jig/Night= Many rods & a bucket full of minners![]()

Horrible today on hickory also.. boat 3 on laydowns and brush in the morning.. after that they just weren't to be found. Before loading up the boat, i fished around the launch area and manage 3 more out on random shoreline and open water LOL!!
still a fun day to yank them dink bass and bluegills crusing the shallows haha.
Congrats on the people that has found them also. Went out my first time yesterday for the crappie and struck out. Did wear the spots out though. Hopefully the warm weather will help us out.
Won't be long spot until you will be catchin fish.I am going to spend my off time going through my gear and do a spring cleaning and be ready.I am sure I will need to update some gear as always at spring time,Thanks for the post
I fished Hickory Sat morning in the rain and didn't do much either. Kept 6 crappies and had a keeper striper and about an 8lb blue cat.
I fished back of gunpowder yesterday and caught bunches of them in 3 to 5 fow but most are dinks. Still better than working!
Went back out today.. Non of my spots produced except for 1. Caught my 8 keepers in that brush at 9fow.
