Haven't posted much since I haven't had a crappie rod in the water since about march, but still been fishing. The trophy blue fishing this summer was tough, but caught some good fish from late spring into early summer and then it got really tough to find them. I've been after flatheads for the last couple months and they been biting great. I've averaged about a dozen in a 5 hour trip with a 20 lb. average and have caught a few just over 40 lb. I've caught about 150 flatheads since the beginning of august. fished a tournament at high rock sat. night and ended up winning 1st place and big fish of the tournament. Looking to get an ipilot in the next couple weeks and plan on going back to crappie fishing some when it gets cold out. I think they taste the best caught out of cold water, might just be me, but they sure seem to taste better. Does anybody have any connections with where to get ipilots at a good price? I'm looking at a 55 lb thrust with us2 preferabaly a pd v2. I dont't think I need to get a terrova for what I'll be doing.
Nice catch
Man those are nice! I'd love to figure out how to catch cats like that.
Pretty nice catch, I too would like to learn the secret to big cats
Thanks for the report!
Yeah, I live in the wrong state............
Wishing you Blue Skies and Tight Lines
Catfishing is the same as crappie fishing....understand the fish and you'll put 'em in the boat. They behave surprisingly similar in regards to how they relate to structure, bait etc. It's taken me much longer to get a hold on catfishing than it did crappie fishing. I dont' crappie fish much in the summer so I'm sure I would struggle there, but I love to crappie fish in the cooler months, but catfish will throw you a curveball sometimes. I've caught them in water as shallow as a foot and as deep as 100 ft. They are interesting critters for sure. And blues and flatheads are like fishing for two totally different fish!! I've been doing some channel catfishing this summer which can be a ball. I had many trips catching 20-30 in 4 or 5 hours. It turns almost into work when it's like that though1
