Let me tell you how crazy some of these places are. We used to buy minnows at Gander Mountain and always got a real good count. Buy 10 dozen and they give you 15 dozen, $1.50 a lb. Then they thought they was losing to much money so they went up to $3.00 a lb. Now minnows just set there and they gotta feed em. As a tackle store I wouldnt recommend Gander Mountain for anything.

Eno...do you mean per dozen instead of pound? And I agree with you about Gander Mountain, but what some people don't realize, if you bring a sales paper from Bass Pro Shops, or a computer printout, Gander will honor that price.

If you are heading North on 49 in MP take a left at the Hardees. Go up about 1/2 mile and it is on the right. An older fellow runs it out of his home. I forget his name and the road name. Been away for 10 years and memory is the first to go.

And they also give a 10% military discount---thats the only reason I shop there. So does BPS but they are too far away.

I get those tuffy minnows in Kernersville for $10/lb. And they out last and out fish shinners 3 to 1. Only problem is he doesn't have them all the time.

Here are a few for Falls Lake

    One Stop Sports Shop
NC-98, Raleigh, NC (near highway 50)
    (919) 847-9393
(These minnows seem to always be pretty healthy and last a while) ‎

    Sandy Plains Mini Mart
    14833 Creedmoor Road
    Wake Forest, NC 27587
    (919) 528-0292

    Carolina Outdoor Sportsman
    9650 Strickland Road
    Raleigh, NC 27615
    (919) 676-6799
(This one is a little out of the way for me, but these minnows always seem to live the longest.)

    Bayleaf Bait and Tackle
11608 Six Forks Rd Raleigh, NC 27614
    (919) 847-4639
(Is hit or miss on if this place is open. Has been owned by a few different owners over the past 7 or so years because it keeps going out of business. Wish there minnows didn't die so fast so that I could give them more business, but I don't go there much because the minnows never seem to live that long.)

When I go to Jordan Lake I like to use the Wilsonville Exxon. It's on the right just after you cross the lake on 64. I like their tackle selection and what I really like is they have a driveway behind the store to get out so you don't have to fight 64 traffic.
