I keep one hooked to the winch until it is in the water. Seen too many unloaded on the ramp before they made it to the water

my point exactly, I was backed into the water, but could not get to the hook up with my rope, all I did was wiggle the boat so I could get the launch rope hooked up, and bam it slid right off the bunk boards
