    Default Boat launch

Afternoon all y'all, So another one of those dumb as- things that happen to me..

Decided it was time to take the boat back to the dock, Miss Sharon and I loaded up and headed north, go to the Marina, and it was busy, but ok, dock was back in place, even better, well I have never unloaded this boat so a few things to get accustomed to, one was the winch, My old winch was electric, this one is the good ole hand crank. well backed into the lake, (like always), going to hook the rope on the front winch hook, but could not reach it cause the boat was to close to the front, well I will giggle it a bit and get the clevis hooked on, NOPE, wiggled the boat and that sucker slid righ down the bunk boards, out it goes into the cove, no rope, big dumb looking guy staring at his boat doing the drift away thang... yep 15 mph winds and poof boat headed out to sea,,,, well this guy on a pontoon was watching me, I said would you help an old man retrieve his boat, sure He comes gets me, I crawl on the pontoon, and away we go, get to my boat, he pulls up along side, down wind, I climb over the rail, he grabs me to keep me from falling overboard... get to said drifting boat ,,,, WOW, 67 years 8 months, 3 days and I never had a boat slip off the bunks and drift away, I thanked him, started up the motor, moved to the dock, picked up miss sharon, took a short ride, put said boat on the lift, came home. Dang lucky someone was close,,,, Mr. Man whoever you are Thanks a lot, you saved my day.

    Now Beagle,
I would just like to verify that all this happened BEFORE cleaning fish and knocking down some Crown?

Har,Har , Har … it is funny when it happens to somebody else . Not near as funny when it happens to you. Very well could have been any one of us. Good news is you survived, no boat damage, just a relatable story. You will adjust to the differences in the new boat with time. Was great to get help when you needed it most.

since you had the pontoon dude for help it makes a great story rather than Old dude has to jump into water to retrieve disappearing boat and it's going away fast! I have helped quite a few guys get their boats launched or back on trailer when you are fishing on dock or shore next to ramp and you can see the kind who would get themselves in trouble.

Glad your boat back on it's lift where it belongs and you don't have to put it in and out to fish or take a ride.

not telling how many launches I have made, and this was a first, I don't know what the bunk boards are made of but I am going to find out, I mean I just wiggled the front of the boat so I could get my rope on the front tie,,, NOPE that sucker just slid off the bunks, and quickly too.
