    I'll tell. It started a LOOOOOONG time ago by some smart science guys. The chant originally started as Rah Rah Jayhawks. Someone changed it to rock chalk jayhawk because of some rocks around Lawrence. I think.

    in 1889 rock chalk was found on mt. oread it is a type of limestone similar to the limestone making up the white cliffs of dover was put in the chant then and has been good ever since see rock chalk jayhawk chant on google search for mo0re details
