    Default Old mememories

Just sitting today looking and thinking about old times. These were my Grandpas old lures.I have had them since i was a young boy.Just thought that they might be interesting to look at for some of the younger guys. They are wood and just about all of them came out of the 50's.

How neat! I have found a couple of reels just like that, the ones I have are Sunbeam brand, one is on a stainless steel rod, pretty cool.

I have all my dad's old stuff. No wood....I guess they invented plastic by then! :D But I do have an old reel like that. Bearings are froze (if they even used bearings in those?) so it doesn't turn or barely turns. But it has that same, thick, cloth-like line! Sweet!

i have several of those old reels. some new in the box with papers and probably over 30 of the old steel rods with the old reels on them. in fact a room full of old fishing stuff. wish i'd collected the old lures but even the "old" plastic lures/plugs are collectible now. everything becomes collectible. i even have a spool of that cortland line like that arky. you should build a shadow box and mount that stuff in it and hang it on your wall. i did one with old fishing stuff from my dad's tackle box and also put two of the old arkansas metal license holders in it with his old fishing license in one and his old hunting license in the other and a picture of him holding a 5lb bass he caught on a fly rod. if you can find a picture of your grandpa with some fish put that in there too.

I had an old tackle box of my G PA, one of those metal two sided tray deals with 3 trays that folded in. Had a couple Pfluger reels like your photo, some of that type line and of course the Creek Chubs, funky spoons, plugs, and what nots. He died when I was real young but I remember he always dressed up. We went fishing and he had on slacks, a dress shirt and probably a tie. Pretty cool stuff
