    Default Mounting Electronics

When it comes to putting new electronics on your boat do you guys tackle it yourselves or leave it to the pros and have it done?

Mounting one up front is not bad at all. Getting one placed right on the transom may be a differant story. I am needing a new thru hull in my boat. Have heard horror stories about getting them in with out air bubbles. Then others say it is simple. I have plenty of room but not sure I want to tackle it myself. Guess I will get a quote and see what it will cost and then decide if I will do it myself.

Always do it myself. No problems so far.

Not sure if I'll have it by then or not Jared. I'm still trying to make up my mind for sure which one I want, it's replacing my console unit so it will be a little harder than mounting one on the TM. I did the one up there with no problem but I'm like you if I end up with the SI the 2d transducer will be a shoot thru the hull and I've never done that. Just trying to figure out if I can save a couple hundred bucks on installation and make the SI more feasible.

I installed all of my electronics. I did the shoot thru transducer install myself, it's really not that big of a deal. I used the lowrance supplied compound.

Dangit! Universal Mania is killing me, they have the unit I want on sale for $859 and everywhere I look around here it's $1049. Unfortunately the side mowing business hasn't paid enough yet to have the cash to be able to cough up that kind of dough. It may be time to see just how much the wifey loves me
