Default Help BB Guns or Pellet Guns Your Ideas

Ok, I am going to say my peace and I might upset someone but I aint going to lie about it.

What I am looking for is a good quailty BB Gun that won't cost a arm and a leg. I got one of those cheap Daisy air pellet guns from Wal-Mart won't do the trick. Only paid about $20.00 for it and the CO2.

I got a problem that won't go away and I plan on taking care of it one way or the other! Wife and I have a full grown German Shepard in our back yard, chain link fence, we raised her from a pup. There is this neighbor dog that is a male that comes by about once a week and jumps over our fence and into our yard. He scares the heck out of our dog! She goes and hides either in a building or in her dog house and howles when this dog jumps into our yard. And the last time I caught this dog in our yard he came up on our back deck and raised his leg on our back sliding glass doors. I live inside the city limits of Springfield.

First time I caught him in the yard I called Animal Control. They came and picked him up in about 20 minutes! Second time Paula and I were both at home. After hours called Animal Control, message said call 911 if after hours. Well Paula calls 911, told dispatcher of our problem. Quote 911 don't take these kinds of calls! Paula tells her about what Animal Control message said to do was call 911. 911 dispatcher got very nasty with Paula. Paula finally tells 911 dispatcher ok screw it husband has his Smith & Wesson 9 mm in hand and he is headed to the back door! 911 dispatcher tells Paula tell your husband he cant do that! Its against the law to shoot off a gun inside the city limits! Paula tells her ok, send a cop then, because he has his CCW permit in the other hand and the dog is going to be dead! Come and arrest my husband, he is afraid for his life and is protecting our property and our dog! And then she hangs up! About the time I am getting a flash light for a good shot the phone rings. Animal Control, we will be there in 30 minutes don't shoot the dog! Oh is it the same big yellow dog that we picked up at your place about a week ago? Yes Dan says yes! Well that is Jake, he lives about a mile and a half north of you. Jakes owner has been ticketed about 20 plus times at about $50.00 each for us picking Jake up! And Jake's owner is kind of a nasty guy to deal with! Real tuff guy type. Tell your husband dont shoot the dog because Jakes owner will be on your door step! Paula tells Animal Control that she or I can more than deal with a mean guy! We both have CCW's and we got plenty of ammo enough for the dog and owner both.

Well out comes Animal Control finally. Jake is gone by then, Animal control officer was really nice. Told him about 911 call that Paula made he said we did right. And he told me that Jakes owner was alot bigger guy than me and he was a biker type. I told the nice Animal contol officer that I have had it and the dog is going to be shot dead.

Well since that night Jake has been here twice more, I quit calling Animal Control! Each time I have been nice and just shot him with the cheap BB gun. I mean it we have a normal sized chain link fence! This dog just jumps right over it! After Jakes last trip I had to wash down the deck! Because of him lifting his leg on my back door!

I want a good high power gun BB or pellet, that costs less than $75.00. Jake has 1 more chance, then he gets to talk with Smith and Wesson period.

I don't want to kill someones dog, but enough is enough! City of Springfield is worthless! And if you know Jake or his owner might tell him, he might have everyone at Animal Control afraid of him but he sure hasn't met me yet!

I have been sitting up at night and watching all day for the last week for Jake, I go to the back windows or back door with a gun everytime our dog barks!

Found a pump up rifle on BP's website this morning. Are they any better than those CO2 cartridges guns? I really don't want to kill the dog I just want to burn him good! My CO2 pistol from what I have seen I think I could shoot my hand with it and not bring blood. I have tested it and it won't shoot over 15 yards at a coke can.

looks like to me the dog aint to mean, so catch him take him to the local shelter, donate the money your going to spend on a gun and let the dog pound take care of the dog, if the owner bails out the dog, next time catch the dog take him to a different animal shelter, now hear is the biggest part,

IF YOU DONT TELL ANYONE YOUR PLANS NO ONE WILL KNOW YOUR PLANS.

When I was a kid, I wore out a crossman 10 pump pellet rifle, and it was one sweet gun. I bought my daugher one for Xmas last year and it is not the same old crossman.
As for the dog/city of Springfield, it sounds like you need to take your notes and the name of your contacts to the City Council. If all else fails, and push comes to shove, beagle man's last bit of advice is important.

Yeah I thought about a nice long ride in the country for him! Beagle that is a good idea, could take him up to Dallas County Shelter! Thats the next county north of us and about 35 miles away. Owner would never find him up there for sure. A man who can't or doesn't try to take care of his animals ain't much of a man in my book! My cows are taken care of better than his dog! And the shelter up there could use the money they do a lot of good work!

If it was up home in Hickory County someone else would have already shot him with a deer rifle period, case closed.

Bayoulee, that was what I was afraid of that was the gun I have been looking at! I just had a old single pump Daisy when I was a kid. Mom and dad still have it and it still works good. And this City Council is a joke just read the paper! We have a mayor who owns his own trucking company and he has forgotten what its like to be poor and have to really count your pennies!

I was good with that gun for sure! Grandma used to have me sit on the porch with her and have me shoot her chickens when they got into the garden after the ripe tomatoes. Never would hurt a chicken much. LMAO! Grandma caught me one day shooting at a rooster who was on top of a old hen. She said son don't do that because there won't be any little chicks coming. I told Grandma that the rooster was doing something nasty to that hen and he should feel what it was like to get something up his butt like he was doing to the hen! Grandma just kind of turned red and never would explain much more about what the rooster was doing to the hen to me. LOL she kind of pushed it to poor Grandpa who said son that rooster was just breeding a hen like the bulls do to cows. That worked for me because I was always into cows more than anything else on the farm.

Thanks guys for the ideas! Really been kind of weighing on me I sure hate the idea of killing a dog.

Just for you only JB. Raised in KC as a kid spent summers from age 3 on grandparents farms. Studied cows alot, age 10 got my first own cow could also feed a herd of cows hay by myself with a tractor and wagon. But age 16 had raised enough out of that first cow in money and additional cows had my own herd. And enough cash to pay for 1st year of college and my first car at age 16. Never have made a dollar off a chicken to this day! But never met a fried chicken I didn't like.

I think beagle nailed this one. Or if you feeling gracious, put you a couple of hot wires (fencer, not 110v LOL) on top of the chain link. Might let your neighbors know it's hot though.

On a side note, I hear sub-sonic .22 rounds are very quiet, and one shot will be hard to get a locate on. A big yellow yelping flopping dog might draw attention, don't know your situation and proximity of nosey neighbors. A good bead might not make that a factor though. Not recommending it, just thinking out loud. LOL Good luck.
