I'm a history buff. I'm sitting here in my ofice at home and looking at the bookcases in front of me. I bet I have at least 100 books on the un-Civil War. The Ken Burn's documentary is a very good one. Nathan Bedford Forrest is someone I enjoy reading about. He was the South's greatest general in my opinion. I don't agree with all his ideologies but he was a great tactician and leader of men.

Netflix has it on watch-it-now, along with a bunch of his other works. I'm gonna watch them. Thanks Smitty!

I also am a civil war buff. Had a lot of relatives from SC and Virginia as well as Wisconsin so had kin on both sides. Ken Burns did a great job. I even have an original "pictorial history of the Civil war" copyright 1884 given to me by a friend. This volume has pictures in all woodcuts as photos were not reproduced at that time in books.

Civil war related; sometime in April a Robert Redford movie titled (I believe) The Conspirator will be out. The movie took over 18 years of research and deals with the assassination of President Lincoln and those that conspired with Booth..should be interesting.

Default Wilson Creek Civil War Reenactment

Just FYI there has been alot on the news about this in Springfield, MO lately! Wilson Creek is just Southwest of Springfield, MO.

The Wilson's Creek National Battlefield Foundation has begun planning a maximum-effort Civil War reenactment to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Wilson's Creek. The reenactment will take place during the weekend of August 12-14, 2011. Excitement is already building for the Civil War Sesquicentennial, and as the second major battle of the war, Wilson's Creek compels a great deal of attention in the reenactment community. The Western Division of the Blue-Gray Alliance, a reenactor organization, will help design battle scenarios and handle all military aspects of the reenactment.

Due to the high level of interest, the Blue-Gray Alliance anticipates that this will be a well-attended event, with more than 3,000 reenactors and huge crowds of spectators. Although a location has not yet been selected, it will be held as close to Wilson's Creek National Battlefield as possible. Watch for more details and updates on the Foundation web site at Wilson's Creek Foundation - Home.
