I made an old lady cry today

Would you believe I have a softer side, hard to imagine huh?
well I have a habit of buying dinner for old ladies. I am usually sitting alone in a restaurant and will spot a woman, or women sitting arround talking and fussing with there shaws, and I will get the attention of the waitress or who ever and ask her for the ticket of said table. and then sneak off before they know it is me. why you ask. well I got caught the other day and the lady said that was nice of you. but you don't have to do that, well mam yes I do and I told her a story.

so hear goes.
Arround 1969 I got out of the navy, and the first place I stopped was Rileys Restaurant in Mt.Vernon (home town) my mom and day were there and I seen the ole car so I stopped in. they was just having desert and I orderd Dinner,, well they left before I got done eating and I wanted to sit a bit. aunt Elsey made the best pies in town.. the waitress came over and said your good to go. what you talking about. I had just ask for my ticket, parents forgot to pick up the tab. the waitress said the lady sitting in the corner booth bought your lunch. So I stopped by her table and said thank you,

She looked at me and said your sure a handsom young man in that uniform.and I am so proud of you. I have a son and he like you was in the service. well my son he did not make it home and I just wanted to buy you lunch and say welcome home. then she started to cry. heck I dont remember what I done. I just sat there and stared. well back in them days Mt. Vernon was pretty small and everyone knew every one else, but I did not know this lady. anyway I just sat there trying to think who she was. never did and My mother could not remember either.
so for as long as I can remember I have been buying old ladies lunch my way of saying thank you to the old lady I did not know.

now 45 years later I made an old lady cry. just because I bought her lunch.

sometimes it is nice to make old ladys cry.
