    Talking Mole wars

Ok it is not fishing. But anybody that has mole problems will probably like it. We live out in the country surrounded by pasture and woods. so there is a never ending supply of moles. I have tried the stuff that you spread on your yard but didn't do much good. It worked better at my mom's than at our house. Last year I trapped 13 moles between the 2 houses using 1 trap. This spring I bought 2 more traps. So far I have gotten 4 moles at our house. 2 of them had to be the dumbest moles around. The first 1 I was setting the trap and had just gotten it set when a big ole night crawler came out of the ground by the trap. I was stil lstanding by the trap. All of a sudden the dirt in the run started moving and it was headed straight for the trap. I thought this was just to easy. I decided that if when he got under the middle of the trap and it didn't trip I would just reach over and trip it. But the mole tripped it himself. And wham I got him. Got the hoe and finished the job. I reset the trap in another spot but didn't get anything that night. The next morning I moved the trap to a fresh dig and while I was setting the trap the mole started working right next to the prongs on the trap. So I gently left the prongs back down on the ground and waited until he was under the trap and then pushed down with all my might and the help of my shoe and wham got another one. Got the hoe and dispatched him. After I mow my mom's grass I will take another trap to her house and start trying to get the couple that are in her yard. The mole wars are on.

We have 2 well trained "mole terminators" here in the form of beagles. Since we got them we no longer have a mole problem. Once in a while a non-informed one will tunnel it's way into the valley of death. It doesn't last long!

Oh yeah.......bubblegum will get rid of them too. Just chew a piece of bubblegum, punch a hole in the top of a fresh run, drop the bubblegum into the run, cover the hole with a clump of dirt, and wait for the mole to eat the bubblegum and die. They can't digest it. It works great!

I used a water hose to flush out one last year after he dug up most of our front yard. He sure came out of the hole after I let the water run for about 20 minutes. I gave him the old shovel in the head trick when he came out.

my neighbor uses the cute little 2ft tall windmills that look like sunflowers. he swears the vibration scare them away. I have a boarder collie that holes everywhere, but I never see dead moles. I'm on board with the whole match&fuses deal.

Another method is to hook a flexible hose to your exhaust and asphyxiate the little buggers! one off an old vacuum cleaner, a little duct tape to the tailpipe and they just doze off never to awake again.

Beagle's method is a lot more fun though!:D

starve a black rat snake for a week and then slide him down a fresh mole hole. It will end all your problems..unless you're terrified of snakes.
