Most manufacturers make a tire with their name on it for Cosco/Walmart etc. They are sold cheaper because it is a cheaper version of that particular tire; less reinforcing/less rubber=poorer quality. NOT telling ANYONE how to spend their money, but you would be FAR better served going to a dealership or a dedicated tire store. Also be wary of tires bought off of a display rack that is outside. No telling how long they have been out there and they are susceptible to weather/sun damage. Tires also carry a code as to date of manufacture. If your sales person can't tell you that I would recommend you not buy the tire or ask for someone who can show/explain the code to you. In economic times like these it behooves all of us to buy wisely.

Ya I do not think I will be going with the Goodyear from Walmart. Found some of the Towmasters online but with shipping they are pretty expensive also. I guess I will have to check with some of the other dealers around town. Only other option is to do bussiness with relatives.

Jared I'll have to look to see what I've got on my Stratos but DON'T go cheap and have problems down the road later. Nothing will bum a fishing trip out like trailer trouble. We have a 20' boat with a 200hp. and it has a single axle trailer like yours and the tires are heavy duty. Just don't let yourself into trouble for acouple of bucks extra.

I read online somewhere that Towmaster is being made exclusively in China these days due to the molds being sold. The article mentioned that the quality was down somewhat and the shipping really added to the cost. You can Google it and see what you think.

I agree with most. Don't try to get by cheap on tires, especially with a single-axle trailer!!!

    Good luck!

I think Jackb has a lead on some tires for me. Thanks for all the advice everyone has given. Very informative so should help others who will need tires in the future.
