YES IT IS SICKING! BUT THE CCW LAW CLEARLY STATES THAT THE ONLY WAY A PERSON CAN DRAW THEIR GUN WITH A CCW PERMIT IS IF THEY FEAR FOR THEIR OWN LIFE. IF SOMEONE IS STEALING YOUR PICKUP FROM YOUR DRIVEWAY YOU CAN NOT DRAW YOUR GUN UNLESS THE PERSON STEALING IT HAS ALREADY PULLED A GUN ON YOU FIRST. AND IF YOU DRAW A GUN ON SOMEONE WHO IS STEALING YOUR PICKUP FROM YOUR DRIVEWAY AND THEY HAVE NOT PULLED A GUN OR DONE ANYTHING IN A THREATENING MANNER TO YOU IF YOU SHOOT THAT PERSON THEY CAN FILE SUIT AGAINST YOU AND GET EVERYTHING YOU OWN! PLUS YOU WILL GO TO JAIL.

YES IT WAS A GOOD THING THAT MR WEBB DID AS FAR LOOKING OUT FOR A OLDER LADY. BUT WHEN HE INTRODUCED "DEADLY FORCE" INTO THE DEAL ACCORDING TO THE CURRENT MO CCW LAWS MR WEBB WENT OVER THE LINE.

bwillaub Mr Webb is a hero and should be treated as such. No jury will convict him. Wouldn't dare.

I AGREE WITH YOU BUT I AM AFRAID ACCORDING TO THE CURRENT MO CCW LAWS MR WEBB WILL BE CONVICTED. WITH THE CURRENT LAW MR WEBB IS IN MORE TROUBLE THAN THE GUY WHO TOOK THE PURSE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

THIS IS GOING TO OPEN UP A LOT OF DEBATE ON MO CCW LAW. AND MAYBE SOME CHANGES WILL BE MADE PROTECT CCW PERMIT HOLDERS AND NOT ALLOW CONVICTS AND OTHERS TO CONTINUE TO STEAL AND GET AWAY WITH IT.

I respectfully disagree with you, Dan. I still say no jury in MO would convict him. I have faith in Mr Webb's peers on that jury regardless of how the law is written. It's always open for interpretation.

I HOPE YOU ARE RIGHT THAT NO JURY WILL CONVICT HIM. AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED I THINK THE LAW IS NOT WRITTEN CORECTLY! AND NO OFFENSE TAKEN MY FRIEND! BOB ANYWAY WE LOOK AT THIS IT STINKS!

WHEN I TOOK MY CLASS AND MY ADVANCED CLASS THIS PART OF THE LAW WAS REALLY STRESSED TO US.

WIFE TOOK CLASS ABOUT A YEAR AFTER I HAD TAKEN BOTH MY CLASSES AND I ATTENDED IT AND THE SAME PART OF THE LAW WAS REALLY STRESSED TO THE STUDENTS AGAIN.

I PERSONALLY FEEL LIKE THAT IF I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE ELSE INTRODUCES DEADLY FORCE BEFORE I CAN DRAW MY GUN IT TAKES AWAY FROM MY OWN SAFETY.

ONE CASE THEY QUOTED IN THE CLASS HAPPENED IN HICKORY COUNTY. A COUPLE OF GUYS WERE STEALING PIPE ON A FARM. THE OWNER WAS LOOSING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS OF PIPE FROM THESE GUYS STEALING IT. ONE NIGHT THE FARMER STAKED OUT THE AREA OF THE PIPE. WHEN THE GUYS CAME IN AND GOT LOADED THE FARMER PULLED A GUN ENDED UP SHOOTING INTO THE TRUCK AS THE GUYS WERE LEAVING WITH IT. ONE OF THEM GOT SHOT, BOTH ENDED UP IN JAIL, BUT THEN THEY WERE ABLE TO GO BACK AND FILE SUIT AGAINST THE FARMER AND THEY ENDED UP OWNING THE MANS FARM. I THINK IT STINKS MYSELF. PLUS THE FARMER ENDED UP IN JAIL FOR USING DEADLY FORCE!

I HAVE BEEN TOLD MY BOTH MY CCW INSTRUCTOR AND ALSO THE SHERIFF OF HICKORY COUNTY. THAT IF I COME BY MY PARENTS SOUTH FARM WHERE THERE IS NO HOUSE ON IT JUST A CORREL. AND I PULL IN AND FIND SOMEONE WHO IS STEALING MY OWN CATTLE I CAN BLOCK THE DRIVEWAY AND CALL THE LAW. BUT IF I PULL A GUN ON THEM AND TRY TO HOLD THEM I WILL BE GOING TO JAIL WITH THEM! THATS THE WAY THE LAW IS WRITTEN. NOW IF THEY PULL A GUN ON ME FIRST, I CAN SHOOT THEM DEAD PERIOD! THE WAY THE LAW IS WRITTEN IT PROTECTS THE CROOKS!

I DON'T WANT TO SEE MR WEBB CONVICTED, AND I AGREE WITH YOU THAT IF I WAS ON THE JURY I WOULD HAVE A HARD TIME CONVICTING HIM. BUT WITH THE WAY THE LAW IS WRITTEN HE IS GOING TO HAVE A VERY HARD TIME GETTING OUT OF IT. AND WE BOTH KNOW IF JUST ONE OF THOSE ANTIGUN PEOPLE GET ON THE JURY MR WEBB WILL BE IN TROUBLE.

AS A CCW PERMIT HOLDER IN MO AND AS THE LAW IS WRITTEN IT ONLY PROVIDES FOR YOU THE PERMIT HOLDER TO DRAW YOUR GUN ONLY WHEN YOU ARE ARAID FOR YOUR OWN LIFE AND NOT ANYONE ELSES OR TO PROTECT YOURS OR SOMEONE ELSES PROPERTY. THE FIRST THING THEY TELL YOU IN CLASS IF YOU SHOOT SOMEONE YOU ARE TO TELL THE COPS THAT YOU WERE AFRAID FOR YOUR LIFE.

WHAT I AM HOPE IS THAT MR WEBBS CASE WILL MAKE SOMEONE WAKE UP IN JEFFERSON CITY AND THE LAW MAKERS WILL ALLOW CCW PERMIT HOLDERS TO DRAW THEIR GUNS TO BE ABLE TO PROTECT THEIR PROPERTY!

I'll be the odd man out here for argument sake if nothing else. I believe the Missouri Statues say that any transfer of a concealeable firearm requires a permit from the county sheriff. I have bought and sold handguns with individuals and we both agreed that for no more hassle that it took to get permits it was worth it to make sure we followed the law. Its not a big deal.

As for Mr. Webb in springfield I honestly believe he was wrong in what he did. Firing at a moving vehicle in a crowed city to stop a pursh snatching, well if my wife or family were anywhere nearby I would certainly have a problem with that. I fully support the CCW laws but believe that it should be life threatening issue to use a firearm. YMMV.

As of Aug.09,no paperwork required for a FTF sale between 2 Mo. residents-any gun can be concealible.

It All Goes Back To If We Had Enough Police Protection On The Streets This Would Have Never Happened.

But Even If We Had Enough Police Protection We Have To Have Prosecuting Attorneys Who Are Willing To File Charges And Judges Who Are Willing To Sentence Jail Time And Not Probation.

Wife Was Assaulted At The Dillions Store She Works At This Summer In Springfield. She Was Working A Check Out Lane And This Kid Came Down Her Line With A Gallon Of Milk. He Was Wanting To Pay With A Wic (mo Gov Free Milk Program) Check. This Kid (between 17 & 20) Wasn't Listed In The File As Beeing Legal To Even Sign This Check Nor Was His Name On The Check. So This Check Could Have Been Stolen Who Knows. But If Wife Accepts This Check Without Proper Id Wife Can Go To Jail Or Get Fined.

Anyway This Kid Gets Po'ed That Wife Won't Accept The Check For Payment Of The Milk. He Throws The Gallon Of Milk At Her, She Ducks, Gallon Of Milk Hits The Printer And Register In The Next Line. Lady In Next Line Plus The Casher Gets A Milk Bath. Kid Runs Out Of The Store. Gets In A Car And Drives Off. Springfield Police Called, Report Taken. Finally After Not Hearing Anything About It From The Police Department. I Contact A Friend In The Department He Gets It On The Fast Track And Finally A Officer Contacts Wife. Even With The Wife Wanting To Press Charges And There Is A Good Case The Officer Says That The Prosecuting Attorneys Office More In Likely Won't Press Charges! Something About It Not Being Serious Enough. Best Wife Can Expect Is That A Police Officer Will Go Out And Talk To The Kid.

Go Figure I Bet The Next Time The Police Deal With This Kid He Will Be Holding A Gun On Someone Robbing A Store!

    MOpanfisher,

The law USED to be that for a HANDGUN you had to get a permit to purchase, but current law does away with permits,,,,, you can't get one if you wanted to.
