Welcome oldgoat! If you met Jared today, then you probably got some good info from an all around great guy. Can't think of a better place to retire, then right where you are! Like Monk said, good folks and good fishing.

Hello all,Glad I found this site. Lots of good info. (i need all the help i can get) I fish mainly stockton but am having a brother-in-law weekend over labor day at Truman. I recently bought my first boat, a 1975 Ranger, so I'm eager to do much more fishing. I live in Springfield but work in Ozark as a Store manager for Seminole Decor selling Benjamin Moore paint. Once again thanks for all the great info.Tom

Hi, my name is Kent. I spent 23 years in the Air Force and retired 8 years ago. I currently work for BALL Aerospace and Technologies Corp in Fairborn OH. I am fairly new to crappie fishing, but they are my favorite fish to eat. I own a 2010 Alumacraft 165CS with a Yamaha 50HP motor, MK PDV2 with I-pilot and HB 596C HD DI. My wife and love to get out and fish for crappie, bream and catfish. We primarily use live bait (minnows, wax worms and red worms) on ultra light rigs under a slip bobber. I would love to try and use artificial (I've got a whole tackle bag full of it) but nobody has ever really showed me how to use them and every time I try, I end up giving up after an hour of no bites and go back to live bait. I've really only fished at either CJ Brown reservoir in Springfield OH or nearby Clark Lake. I purchased a brand new 9.8HP Tohatsu this year so that I can get on the HP restricted lakes here in OH, but haven't had a chance to use it. Any help, pointers or tips that you guys can give us will be greatly appreciated.

    Howdy folks!
The name is James if your want to be formal, lol or as my forum name states Little Skeeter is also what I respond to at times. I am new to Missouri and moved here for a job at Fort Leonard Wood. I was in the Navy for a total of 8 years. I am 34 years young. I currently live around Lebanon, MO. I have made my way up to Truman a few times but since I dont know the lake I dont travel to far each time as I am by myself and with all the trees and stumps I see I dont want to get stranded on my own, lol. I love the look of Truman, just looks fishy! lol

I have tried fishing the Bagnell dam spillway side a few times and have caught some decent crappie from 11-12 inch range. Just enough for my limit.

I am looking forward to getting to know some of you all, from what I have read on here so far this is a great forum for crappie fishing talk. I am actually also hoping to make a few friends on here as well. I need a fishing buddy up here. We have no family in this state and I basically dont know a single soul.

Currently my fishing rig is my Ford F-150 towing my 18 foot Skeeter boat behind it. I am trying to learn the colors of lures to use here but it is going slow so far. Hitting the bait shops and asking tons of questions has been my plan of attack so far, other than throwing several thousand casts in the lake each time to find out what works. I have not had a lot of time off from work to fish lately but I am hoping that I will this fall.

I also do some taxidermy on the side. Just mammals right now, but am going to learn birds and fish at some point.

I guess that sums me up in a nut shell. See ya'll around.
