    Default Three Days at LOZ

My nephews were in town so I took them fishing Tuesday. They have not been fishing very much so I figured trolling cranks would be fun for them. We managed to put some in the boat, but overall it was a bit slow. The fish I saw on the graph were really deep and I did not see many in the 10 to 15 foot range. I'm glad I got some time with them and hope to go again. In the evening I bass fished and did very well on main lake points with a Strike King 6XD. Wednesday I had a good buzzbait bite in the morning but missed three big fish. When the fish makes a swirl large enough to wash your clothes you know you missed out. When the sun got high they would not hit the crank but I found the mother load snapping a 5/8 oz football jig off the bottom on a point. It was literally a fish at least every other cast for 45 minutes. Today was fairly slow and I had leave early to get a damage estimate on my boat. Deer vs. boat on highway 54, still scratching my head about that

I've heard of bugs on the windshield...but deer? Good job on the fish.
If we did what was most important in life there
would be a shortage of Bibles.................and fishing poles

I had a good week last week but fished the night bite. Fished 2 evening and fish were suspended really deep 20-25'. At night the moved up. Caught a 36# buffalo, that was a blast on a crappie rod.

Lake is full pool and heavily stained in the lower main channel where I fished. It does clear up on the Gravios and back in creeks. Perfect for bass fishing...I just ain't been crappie fishing much at all.

Good job getting those boys out on the lake! Looks like they had a good time. Sorry about the boat. Hope it's a quick fix. Water color is about the same here (61mm). The backs of creeks have the normal LOZ green tint. We can still pick up a few crappie shallow, but the vast majority have left the spawning coves and are out in 12-18 feet of water. We went after the bass Wednesday and Thursday mornings (only had a few hours to fish each morning). Caught seven nice keepers the first day, and five the second. All shallow on brush hogs. There tails were all beat up from spawning. Not crappie, but still fun!
