There is a good guy in Warsaw who will give you different fonts and make a real nice looking decal with your numbers. As to the legality, it depends on the officer and how he feels towards you on that particular day as to whether your letters fit the rules. If you want the decal maker's info, just call down to Angler's Port Marine and ask them.

It also says the numbers have to be a certain distance apart. I think either 1" or 1 1/2" apart. The numbers I got at WM worked out good. When you put the blocks side by side the numbers were the correct distance.

I got stopped because i had no spacing between my letters and numbers. Bought my boat in ks and the letters and numbers have been on there ever since.

Pretty much checked everything out and gave me a warning. Truth be told... i still havent changed it.

He was fairly polite and he was right, I just put the #'s next to each other without much separation. It was a brand new Skeeter that I had only had for 2 weeks, I sure hated scraping those #'s off but I did that day and the next day I saw him looking at me again with his bino's.
I got checked coming out of state park marina at Truman a couple years ago for the same reason. The letters were ok but too close together. I told him it was the first day of my trip and couldn't get the new ones on until next time. He said ok and said if someone else pulls you over show them this. He was nice and polite and so was I. Make sure the letter spacing is correct.

Mine don't stand out alot but never had an issue. I did order them on line but now can't find the website. There are a bunch of websites that make them, Wow! Iguana is not automated but the one I used was. Not sure it matters.

In MO. they have to be three inches tall with a 2 in space between the groups ie: MO ( 2 inch ) 1234 ( 2 inch ) AF any sign shop can custom cut them and they just need to contrast to be seen from a distance with binocular..... I have cut several sets and never had any problem with them passing.
