Thread: Lakemaster Plus water level offset

I watched a HB video on this a while ago. The most accurate way to determine the correct figure to offset is to get on a contour line, read the depth and offset the difference (+ or-) on your unit. Setting your offset using the Summer pool level is not accurate because you don't know what the lake level was when it was mapped.

I know...... I guess that is what I was asking. What WAS the lake level when it was mapped? If you know that and you know current level you can do the math in your head.......

Okay, I understand. I have often wondered that myself. The only way I think would be if you happen to get on a contour line, say 20 ft, and your electronics read the same. Then you could see what the lake level is for that day, and that would be the level it was mapped. However, what we don't know is if the entire lake was mapped at the same level from to tailwaters to the dam. Another way would get on a contour line depth, say 20ft and your chart reads 25ft, then subtract 5ft from the current lake level, and that would be the level it was mapped.

Yeah, If you knew the level the lake was mapped at, you would not have to do the whole get on a contour line thing. You could even set offset from the house if you knew the current lake level. Just some basic addition or subtraction and away you go.......

If not mistaken it was mapped at 217

You are correct, and it would be definite advantage. I have thought about doing the contour thing on Enid, since it's the one I fish the most. But every time I get on the water, I forget to do it!

I remember you telling me last year, but I could not remember if you said 215 or 217 John. Guess it would be pretty easy to calculate on any of the lakes. Might be an idea for a few of us that use the Lakemaster offset to share that information and create a sticky for it? Would only really be an issue for the big four I suppose.......

Be a good idea. I still check mine when I put the boat in and adjust it each trip, even if I fished the day before, knowing where that shallow water is is a life saver.
