    Default So what now?

,Phase one has about ended with the spawn,,, when does phase two begin?I am dying to feel the thump again,,,, I see guys still fishing the trees with some success....IM not very good at working them trees,,,single poling just ain't my bag,,,So when does using crank baits become relevant? I just wanna fish and catch a few thumps...

I caught a ton of fish on crankbaits this weekend. Granted not big fish, but fish... depends which lake you're on what stage they're at right now

Arkie 350s. Lot of fish in a post spawn funk right now. Makes em hard to catch for sure. Wouldn't give up on power trolling just yet, think it's still a little early for the crank bite to be right. But I have seen good fish caught on em already this year

those butla crappie do not follow the rules. they are just now spawning this week and the water temp is 80F! Mo is right, the post spawn funk makes for some tough fishing, and the Butla doesnt make it any easier. much too early for cranks tho IMO. if you are patient those big ol slabs reward you with a bite, i reward them by releasing them. its a unique relationship i have with the big mammas. stay after em, good luck.

Thanks slab for your insight,,,, it was great to finally meet you and a few others guys today down at Butla,,, Great place to learn to fish...I figure if you pass the Butla test,, you certainly have done something Big,,,I recon Im going back after them using all that I've leaned this week and see how things work out,,, i saw a lot of fish today on sonar, but not too many were hungry today,,, Best to start putting it in their faces instead of trying to crank quite yet,,,,new did try alittle longlinging as well,,, but still no takers in deep waters,,,So much new water to fish,,, I recon if the bait is shallow, the crappie ought to be right along side of them,,,at least close by,,,a hope to see you boys next time I'm out,,,,
