I like your attitude about the sport of crappie fishing it takes alot of dedication to put in the effort of keeping accurate logs and doing the research on all of this and then being able to make sense of it all....maybe next year will be even better for you.

A couple of things I have learned this year - after buying a good side imager/GPS/depthfinder - I found out very quickly what I had been missing. Using wider gap hooks (i.e. sickle hooks) results in a far better hook up ratio for me. Fishing the Delta lakes is something I have been missing out on, when I was at Ole Miss, I fished Enid almost exclusively with a couple trips to Sardis and Grenada. Now living 5 minutes from the Rez, I fish there almost every time out of convenience but have been over to Chotard a couple of times and am looking forward to trying Eagle and Washington soon. Delta fishing is so much fun and something is always biting. Look forward to seeing you all on the water.
I have switched over to nothing but sickle hooks myself for the same reason. That's one of my goals for next year, branching out and fishing some of the other lakes. I have never fished any of the Big 4, and only fished Eagle a handful of times. My uncle lives on Eagle and he tells me to go to Chotard/Albermarle , but says Eagle is starting to make a comeback. Give me a shout when your headed out yo the lake sometime. What boat are you in?

It does in the beginning. Many times, my first year keeping them, I had to force myself to write it all down. But once you start your second season and have all that information to review, you'll never look back. I am constantly writing little notes and tidbits down all day then compile them into a journal entry at night. It is a tool just as important as my electronics. It saves so much time on the water.
