You can use a loop knot but I use a Trilene knot with a long tag line for the bottom bait. With this knot if you what to go shallow just cut the line below your first knot a 1/8 inch. A loop knot tends to let the top bait roll and twist your line. The best setup is the Wolf River Rig designed to fish current for Walleye. We run plastic most of the time and superglue to make the bait last longer.
