I can run 2 cranks or 1 on a 1 oz Arkie and not run near the line out to achieve the depths of a #1, like half the line.
Try em. You'll like em. I have the Arkie rigs too. No way you can keep a 1oz rig the same depth as the tadpole at 1.7mph. I've tried it. I can get the tadpole 20' deep with 62' of line out at 1.5 IF I wanted to.

What advantage do they give you? Have you pulled with the Arkie rig?

No, but I've tried pushing 1oz rigs up front that fast. Won't hardly work. I use a 4oz ScottV weight pushing up front and it only goes down 2/3 of the line out AT BEST!!! I also use a 3oz weight power trolling 1mph, and it does about the same. No way a 1oz will do that. Looking for Tadpole weights

According to the Tadpole pulling chart a #1 at 1.5 mph will reach 16 feet deep with 55 feet of line out.

A 1 oz Arkie rig with a Atkie 350 or Bandit 300 on a 3 foot leader will bump bottom at 16 feet with 37 feet of line out at 1.7 mph, not exactly half but a lot less, third less. On second thought, if the Tadpole was at 1.7 it would be a good bit more than 55.

And I asked for the advantage, still haven't gotten that answer.

What is the advantage of the Arkie rig over any 1oz weighted rig? Sounds like it working for ya so let er rip. I don't know the answer to your question on the advantage of the Tadpole. I have not pulled the Arkies, just pushed them. The Tadpole works, and is much more compact. They do have a dive curve listed in Precision Trolling so you KNOW how deep you're fishing, not guessing or going trough trial and error.

I like the tadpole because it Dives on its own. It doesn't just add weight. I like and use ScottV's pushing weights also. They don't dive, but they work. I still don't see a 1oz weight dragging a crank down to 16' with 37' of line out at 1.5 I WILL check it out this weekend tho.

Check out the BPS keel weights listed in Precision Trolling. They show the dive curves of a 1, 2, and 3oz model. The 1oz model Maxes out at 16' with 89' of line out. I'm wondering why the 1oz Arkie goes that deep with only 37' of line out??? An ounce is an ounce if the weight doesn't dive on its own like the Tadpole does, and the keel weight is much more streamline than an egg sinker. I HAVE used the keel weights and they match the chart pretty close.
    Here's the Tadpole #1

The advantage for me is price period. Lot of things in the fishing world is designed to catch anglers. Don't doubt it works one bit but I can loose 4 or 5 of the Arkies for the same price of loosing one Tadpole. I been using Arkies for the convenience of adding a bait easy above the weight if I choose to, 1 oz worm weight will do the same thing. As far as an advantage there is none, it's price. Kinda like buying regular gas or non ethanol, if there weren't an advantage no one would be buying non ethanol.
