Try the BNM Crappie Wizard rods. They have more backbone to them. They come in 10 and 12 foot.

I have been using Tite Line Specials for my longer rods and am very pleased with their performance. Got a great 6 foot rod for my "shorty" but am looking for something in the 8 to 10 foot range that is comparable to the Tite Lines. Been using the Pinacles and they do great but looking for something with more backbone.
Don't want any more PSTs, been down that road.

Got to use a net with them Dee, least that's what I was told. Gave my last one away last fall

10-4. Sounds to me like you're catching to big of fish!! LOL.
I've used the 12' PST's for years on cranks and long lines, but I've always used nets while pulling both. Never tried flipping fish in while pulling.
I do have a set of 14' and a set of 16' PST's that I use power trolling jigs and they're the stiffest that I've found in those lengths. I would like to have a stiffer set for that, but can't afford to just buy a set of something else to try out. The 14's and 16's don't seem as stiff as the 12's.
trying to think back i have 9 pst 14 footers and never had a problem with any of themm. i guess i have used a net on most but as late as last week my son brought two 15+'s in the boat with out it. they have handled two slimmers around 10# i know of and no problem. i use some thump bar bait casters that i set a little loose that could help me but i have yet to break one in over 5 years.

I know you don't want to buy new but why not use the newer crappie max tight line. Same rod just different name and they plenty stiff.
