October 10 and 11th and that's it, fish that are caught are good ones for sure!!! With that said 15 is a big number of keepers and bet the average is WAY less than that.

Ok maybe this 95+ degree weather and some draw down current will get them in front of my bandits and biting. Gonna hit it hard this weekend and taking monday and tuesday off.

Stand by for pics of Sardis Slabs. That's my thinking going in anyway.

I have been fishing Grenada since I was a little kid back in the late 60's, with my Dad and Grandad. Now I fish it with my wife and sons. I can remember catching some coolers full of fish back then, but nothing compares, in my mind, to the quality of todays coolers. I would not trade todays Grenada for the old one. I fish once or twice a week on Grenada. I admit the spring was a little tougher than usual, but I have been catching fish consistently for most of the summer.

Er.... On second thought, yall are right. Grenada has been raped. Fish anywhere else but Grenada.

    Fished from 6:30 - 12:30.
Water was clear as I've seen it.
Don't know the temp my DF said 12.5 F.
Ended with 10 in the box 1short thrown back. 2 small catfish, 1 white bass and 1 small mouth bass about a pound in size. Would not have thought they would be in Sardis. Lost or lite bite 6-8. Time to sharpen hooks.

The fish looked really healthy with big fish almost 16". Only 1 between 11-12.

I love these threads. Haven't checked in for a long time, glad things are still the same.
There's a one word answer for why cranks aren't working this year, and it's nothing to do with the fish population or the pressure.
    Weather.
Cranking is consistent and at it's best when it's hot and the thermocline set's up good. All of the fronts and rain earlier this summer just never allowed that to happen and the result is equal dissolved oxygen from top to bottom of the water column and the fish are just scattered.
The same thing happened a few years back, 2011 I think, would have to look at my book.

    Or.......
All of the lakes are in a down cycle at the same time, oos pressure, specks fault, some guys are fishing too often (aka in state pressure ), size limits are screwed up, trollers suck, single polers suck, went down the spillway, too hot, too cold, too much water, too dry, pretty much anything goes

We'll have a normal hot summer next year and all of the lakes will magically be well again, but let the weather or water levels deviate a little bit from the norm during the spawn or some other normally reliable period, and they'll all be ruined again, at least on the internet!
It's all over but the fryin'......

It's not just Mississippi. Fishing has sucked in Oklahoma and Arkansas this summer as well. At first I thought it was all the Mississippi people sneaking over here and raping our lakes (sarcasm), but it's definately slow around here too.

Small mouth? I've caught a lot of fish at Sardis, never a smallmouth. Without a picture, I'm gonna call BS.

Well I thought about a pic. The phone was in a dry bag, the fish in one hand and the steering in my other. Now I have caught small mouth before in the Northwest. I am not saying I am a biologist. It could have been some other type of bass. It diffenitly was no large mouth or white bass. The back was brown and its mouth was small with the bottom much shorter than the top. Don't know.
