    It is handy for that for sure. Humminbird is much better in shallow water than Lowrance too so if that something that interest you the Bird is the way to go. Have had the 798 and wasn't pleased with the small screen, even went back to straight 2d sonar for a while but got a chance to get a new 899 and really like it so far.

    That's where I am. I have a 798. Figured I'd learn how to use it and then move it to the front of the boat and put an 899 on the console. I've got to learn to adjust my chart speed and sensitivity to get a clear picture.
