    Default Side imaging

How many of you guys devote much time to side imaging?? I have never turned mine on on sardis, enid or grenada. I use my 597 gps and the map card along with 2d. In fact if I had to give up all but one I would keep the Gps and mapping. What am I missing??

I love mine, shows me some things I may otherwise miss, helps me develop patterns quicker. I fish a lot if lakes that aren't mapped tho, so it's the only eyes I got down there

I used mine the other day to mark where these guys in another boat caught a fesh so I come back down that line after they moved on, excellent for that. Also use it marking ledges some to, really just getting used to it. Sonar and map on split screen 90% of the time when pulling cranks, when I had a smaller screen most of the time on the maps screen.

My home lake is kind of sparse on structure. For me SI is invaluable. It allows me to find submerged trees, brushiles and rock piles, it allows me to cover a 100' wide swath of lake in one pass when searching for structure. You can't cover anywhere near that width with DI. You should start playing around with it!!

Ya spend all that money on the fancy units and then don't spend the time to learn to learn em. Makes no sense to me. If you scan cranking then you can see if the fish are on either side of the boat is one way to utilize the unit.

You are right, actually using the cranking time to learn to use it more. Need some time in the boat with ABH, he is very good with the side image units and it will cut the curve way down.

I have no problem using mine when bass fishing or finding brush piles or sunken tops when single poling. I just feel that you aren't very handicapped if you don't have it while pulling cranks on Sardis or Enid.

First thing I noticed with mine was how easy it was to navigate a channel that the water was over the backs by a couple of feet and nothing to go by, no doubt where the deeper water was and made it easy.

It is good to record while doing any kind of trolling. You can go back and watch the recordings later for structure and analyze the areas you caught fish....maybe help figure out why they were there....and where else they might be. It is good to stop and restart the recording to break them into smaller files so you don't have to scan thru several hours of recording to find the area you want to analyze.

It also gives you something to do when you can't get on the water, and might be valuable data to make your own custom mapping. The lakes always change over time. You can watch the recordings on a big screen TV.....and see a lot of things missed on the water.
