I hear you jd1. During the dead of winter I've been doing mechanic work. I've been putting a rear end in my recliner. But I do get on the water about five months a year. About two and a half months in the spring and the same in the fall. I hope to kick off around Feb 15th weather permitting. I will fish until the heat runs me off or the garden tells me I'd better come on. I'll crank up again mid Sept. and fish until there's a danger of the pipes in the camper freezing.

Like I said, I'm not going to spend any more time on the barometer thing. My uneducated opinion is, if you are in fish and your speed, presentation, color, and depth is right you will probably catch fish. If the barometer is in a 29.7 to31.1 you will get more bites that bend the poles under the boat and on high presure you will see more ticks on the rod tips. You will still have some of both with either system.

I use the cow gauge! If the cows are standing and feeding so are the fish. If the cows are half standing and feeding fishing is slower. If all the cows are laying down go on back home!!
