Sorry your thread got hi-jacked, it happens. As far as getting better, the more you go the more you learn. Live bait is king during the winter months. Are you an Elks Club member? I've got some buddies who are and they have a fine lake at their lodge in your area. Do you own a boat? if so, do you troll or single pole?

Not in the Elks club, but have fished there a few years ago...real good. I fish in a private lake about 300 acres. Have a 14 ft tracker. I like to drag a couple of poles with minnows and cast road runners with my light weight spinning rig. That way I can cover a lot of water. Weather bad last few weeks. Not much fishing lately.

Try pushing minnows next time. Put a 1/2 or 5/8 oz bell weight on the bottom and two hooks above it spaced about a foot apart. This works very well sliding up and down ledges or bumping and dragging over old logs and thru weed mats. Be carefully to stay out of your trolling motor, this is why many of us use long 14'-16' poles.

Appreciate your advice. Never too old to learn how to be a better fisherman. My dad use to take us fishing a lot growing up in south Alabama. He always took the pot and the grease to cook'um up after they were caught. He took along 3-4 lbs of bacon to season the grease with. When we didn't catch a lot of fish ...we had bacon sandwitches. Ummie!

Welcome from west Michigan and a BIG fan of y'all down there. Some great folk and good fishin' for sure. Feesh is right 'bout the pot stirrin' so just roll with it. Hope to see ya at one of those great camps y'all throw down there.
