Just started this year and think I am right there with feelay. I just jot down where and how many on the day on the calendar. I can look back and see what the water level was on river gauges if I go to digging for information. I think everyone that fishes seriously should do it. I just started 6 months ago and it's really fun to look back and see all the places you have been and already forgotten about.

Feelay and Bird Down, y'all are off to a fine start! No doubt you two can hit 100 trips if you want to. It is going to stink having to start my journal halfway through the year, but I really like this idea.

As I said before, I will look back at trips that I think I remember pretty well, and there are usually a lot of specifics that I have totally rearranged in my feeble little brain. I think it helps a lot to be able to look back at what you were doing at a given time period for the last few years and what the water levels and conditions were like, you start to see some consistent patterns. I keep a little notebook in my truck and then transfer it all to a Word.doc and I have it on my phone too, that old data has helped me more than once on tough days!!
Man you are tech-savvy. I mostly just use my phone for texting, and I feel like I'm cool. I am going to have to get with the age I guess and start using more features on these devices. Dangit, I'm getting left behind.

My Dad and I have been keeping fishing Journals for years we just pick up a good day planner and write down all the info. Number of fish caught, air temp, water temp, water clarity, wind speed and direction, cloudy/sunny , water depth, fishing depth, jig color. Also area of lake fished and any other special events that happened during our trip.

BCM - I think there are a few ways to synch data from your computer to a smart phone but I am using one called "Docs to Go". I can type changes on the puter and it will synch everything up on the phone, could not be easier. We are just lucky to have toys like that these days!!
It's all over but the fryin'......
