You'll have a lot of new fishing buddies if you buy that kinda rig! I bet we can put you in one for a lot less than that!

Yep, mine drafts about like Feelay's. I've fished all over the Ten-Tom and I haven't found a place yet that I can't get to and fish if I wanted. One thing is for sure though, most everyone is strongly opinionated on this subject. It's been discussed several times on here and I've not seen many people sway from their original beliefs. The best thing to do is to pick a couple of friends one with a metal boat, the other with a glass rig. Spend a day fishing with each and ask lots of questions, then you can make an educated purchase. BTW...When I say glass boats, I mean quality boats such as Ranger, Skeeter, Bass Cat, and Stratos. The top metal boats are War Eagle, Express (BRM must be asleep), and Ranger(they are coming out with a tin boat this year). I'm sure I missed a couple of each style, but you get my idea, "don't buy cheap junk". Outboards? Well that's a whole other discussion, but in my opinion if it ain't a Yamaha or a Mercury you wastin' money. Hope this helps!

Ranger actually had an aluminum model at some point. An older man on Columbus fishes out of one. I may go look at a stratos 176xt. Seems it may be the best of both worlds.
If you fish a lot or with several friends get a big glass boat...they are simply more comfortable. They handle stump fields just fine...I've crawled mine over every stump in Calling Panther and most of the stumps in Lake Fork.I had a 17' tin boat all most sink riding over stumps. The right front corner went up...the left rear corner went under.I wasn't driving,we were going to fast...but still...had it not had floatation, it would have sunk.
