Wilbur, you might want to get a drift sock to slow you down some.

Wilbur....I pull with my big motor....115 Yamaha four stroke with a trolling plate.....but I use my trolling motor to push with.

Trollamatic works great on my 115. I can run from 1.4 to 2.2 now. What size motor do you have? Is it a four stroke? http://www.franksgreatoutdoors.com/trol-a-matic-1.html

You said you can get down to 2.2mph with your plate. You need to be able to pull at 1.5 sometimes.

The plate will work on your motor but....it will use a lot of gas to troll since it is a 2 stroke. It would be best in your case to use a trolling motor.

exactly.....a four stroke with EFI is the only way to go .......... Wilbur what trolling motor do you have? Can you run 1.4 to 2.2 with it ? If you can use it .....if its a 12 volt....you might want to invest and connect two batterys in paralel so you will have more run time.

Its a POWERDRIVE V2 12 volt 55# Yeah it will top out about 2.4 or2.5 depending on wind maybe less. Its a 175 bass tracker. I was yhinking about the 2 batteries but the boat will only hold the 27 models.
