You guys use 30lb power pro for pulling cranks?

Ther is no way that SI would put more fish in your boat on that lake. With Steve in the boat, there's not a stump that he don't know where it is. Sorry, but toys don't make the fisherman. On lakes with a lot of structure, I could see it, but not there and not on the Pearl River that is just a dredged out ditch all the way to Stenis space center. Nothing to find when it dredged.

First off, GREAT THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!! I read all 80 some pages. I will for sure be getting into this here Crank Pullin next year. I just now started long line trolling and have had some pretty good success but really don't have any idea how deep my jigs are running. with the cranks atleast I will have some Idea.

Anyways, I was going to give a little info on the side imaging units. I thought the same exact way as hunter7711 did. Didnt think the electronics would make me bring home more fish and boy was I wrong. I can see where it wouldnt help much in a really shallow lake but when your trying to locate suspending crappie out in open water the side imaging I have to credit for hundreds of fish this year. Out in open water I can see schooling crappie 100feet to the left or right side of my boat when making a pass. When you find a school say 75 feet off to the left side of the boat, scroll over, drop a waypoint on it and long line throuh the area and it works amazing!!!!! You would be surprised how much more time you are on fish when you have side imaging and downscan. Im kinda like you though hunter, in shallow water the si units just wont do to much.

Here is a question for you terrova I pilot owners that pull cranks with your I pilot terrova. I have one and use it for the long lining and LOVE it. My question is, when you are trolling at the speeds your trolling at, lets say 1.5mph do you run your tm battery down. Seems you would be running the tm pertty hard. I have the 55lb thrust terrova so its not the 24 volt system. I have never even come close to running my tm batter down but Im only normally running my motor on about speed "3" to run .7mph so I would think I would be running on 5-7 and not sure how long my 12v batter would last on the water.

To everyone that gave input on this thread, I really enjoyed all the info. Ive been wanting to try the crankin for My home lake has very little structure and fish hold more to dropoffs and creek mouths than anything. Not much to get hung on so Maybe I wont lose many cranks.

We normally pull at 1.6 to 1.8 mph....you are probably going to need another battery in parallel with the one you have now. I use a trolling plate and troll with my outboard.

Welcome to the craze, crappiecrazed. You didn't mention what size boat you have but I have a 175 pro crappie with a 24v, 80lb Terrova w/ii-pilot and can easily get 7 hrs pulling with two gp 31's. You can increase the trolling time with your 12v TM by hooking another battery to it. I can't remember if it's parallel or series but someone on here can help on that. Let us know how you do after trying pulling a few time, we all learn from each other. Remember, LINE SEPARATION!! Good fishing.
