Sounds like you had a good day Maj......anytime you start off with a breakfast like that its got to be good.
Congrats on a good day on the water Major. I'm still after the elusive 2 lb'r. I guess I'll have to wait till spring when they're full of eggs. I just got through painting 12 more cranks. I'll have plenty of pank, black and chartreuse.
If you push cranks off the front does it matter if you have 100 200 or 300? Considering you have a 3 or 4oz. weight. I have 4 14ft. pro trollers. I was thinking of pushing 4 and pulling 2. Any help appreciated.
The crappie up here are on the average 11 to 12 in. Do you think they will hit a crank?
They will definitely hit a crank if everything is right (just like any other bait), color, depth, speed, etc. Don't know about pushing, still learning about pulling.
For pushing....yep you could use 100's, 200's, or 300's......but I really think you get a better wiggle with the 300 due to the bigger lip. I caught some fish pushing at Okatibbe fishing with Scottv and I tried a 200 but like I say, I thought the wiggle was better with the 300 and thats what I caught the fish on. I push on some of the small state lakes nearby where I live and I use either 300 bandits or the Wally Marshal crankbaits.
Is it possible to push and pull at the same time. I am assuming the speed would be the same for both.
Scottv and Stevej push and pull at the same time. When I fished with them Scott had the boat set on 1.8 mph.
Yea Wilbur we push and pull cranks at the same time. I have 2 seats side by side up front and we usually push one crank and pull 3 off each side. I tie a loop knot up my line about 3 ft above the crankbait and hook a 1 ft leader with a 3 oz bank sinker to the loop knot. That way when I put my rod up, I can take the sinker off. Some days we catch more on the push poles than pulling.
Good deal, i think it will work eighter way.
I havent tried it yet but i got 10# hi vis. I put a 3oz. slip sinker on the main line and tie a swivel on. Then from the swivel i tie a 36in. leader of mono with a snap swivel to hook the crank to. I got 4 14ft. BnM pro trollers i was planning to run off the front. And 2 10 ft. silstars with line counters to run 1 off of each side.
Do you think I could use the big motor with a trolling plate? Its a 75hp. 2 stroke. Right now it will run 2.2 with the trolling plate do you think it will get down to 1.5
