I have one of the Bandit crankbait charts that show how deep each series (100, 200, 300) will run based upon the amount of line you let out. I know that it is pretty accurate when pulling with planer boards, but I am going to eventually pull some behind me in my kayak without planer boards.
The rods are at 50 degree angles, the rod tip is about 6 feet above the water line and I don't plan on using planer boards... Is there a nifty "rule of thumb" that will allow me to know and set my desired diving depths? I know that this probably wouldn't matter when longer line is used, but it should make a difference with shorter amounts of line.
Thanks,
Anyone used the shakespeare ATS line counters?
I just put a couple on some rods but haven't tried them yet.
I bought some but have not used them yet
Hey guys I have a question. I decided to go with braid this year to pull cranks with. I bought the power pro in 20 pound test on the box it said it contained 150 yards of braid so I figured I would put 225' of braid on top of 300' of mono for backing after I did the first to reels I noticed I still had a lot of braid left on the spool does anyone know approximately how much line is on a spool. I felt like I wasted a lot of line. Thanks for any input.
Spool. Finally got it to not autocorrect. if it wasn't full it put on less than it read.
Thanks that's all I could come up with myself.
I want to push cranks but am having trouble finding the weights to use. Who should I contact?
ScottV was making some
Anyone looking for cheap line counters, I found these. Quite a bit cheaper than the Okuma's.

Sorry but have a stupid question. On those reels what is the difference between size 15&20? Is it just the size of the reel itself
Thank ya Mr. Feelay
read the whole thing...send me my prize of bandit grab bag
For you planer board users, do you have to go with the medium size to get the tattle flags? Send the small ones don't have flags. Do you really need the flags?

You don't have to have the tattle flags but it sure makes it easy to see when a fish is on. On picture perfect days it's usually easy to see anyway but they are nice to have on windy days or days with lots of boat traffic.
Thanks Yikes!

Someone school me on the best rods for pushing, been pulling with 8' and 12' PST's looking to get 4 14's or 16's to add for pulling and pushing. I like my PST's but I've already broke one tip which seems to be a notorious problem, I spider rig with Southern Crappie Rods 16'ers. Who's used his 14t extra heavy rod, crappiemaxx?

What is a good way of getting a Bandit or other crankbait down to 20 ft while pulling? Would an inline weight be the way to go?
Hey "Bingo", check Off Shore Tackle's Tadpole OR36 diving planer in Sz 1 or 2
It's an inline planer weight that will get your lures down deeper, or you can use
and in-line trolling sinker that come in multiple weights(1/4oz to ?)
Tight Lines - Dave
Thanks DaveB40, i will check them out.
Not to take anything away from what Dave said but I use a 1 oz weight about 4 foot above the crank with a 1/16oz roadrunner on a leader just above it, for me this is a better and cheaper option. Some days the roadrunner out produces the crank and some day the roadrunner only catches a few but it adds to the totals.
Thanks also Rees Guide. When i am trolling Bandit 200, 300 or the Arkie 350 i usually keep my speed at 1.7 or 1.8mph. I want to try some flicker shads, shad raps and some of the smaller Arkies this year. Can i get by with the smaller flicker shads(2"-5cm and next size up 6cm), smaller Arkies and smaller shad raps(2" sr5 and even the 2 3/4"-sr7) trolling slower speeds? Just guessing 1 to 1.5mph?
I run the small Arkies at 1mph with good success, can't speak for the others.
Your welcome!!!!!
I seem to catch more on the 6cm, and 7cm flicker shads on the big 4
Anybody have a depth chart for wiggle warts? I got some blanks made from an original pre-rapala wart and went ahead and painted a few of them to test but can't seem to find a chart on em https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2b282c8e3a.jpg

I'm broke just reading this thread. Well most of it anyway. :fish
Can anyone answer how the Okuma 15DX reels hold up?
For the price, can't beat em
