The MAJ has spoken and that's that.
And he said what I said so gator hows that ? Not so funny now hu? Now go back to watching your how to fish DVDs.
Baaaaahahaha...... Ok, I will....ya gewb!
Hawgdog, I don't think it matters, all I was saying if Kent Driscoll and Russ Bailey both use snap swivels. It can't be a bad thing. Experiment with it and find out what works best for you. Heck try half your poles with and half with out and see what happens. I used snap swivels on my polesast year and caught plenty of fish. I plan on using them this weekend too. I use a lot smaller size than they do. They were using a #8 I use a #0. Just saying. Do what feels best to YOU!
Heck we didn't get a drop of ot.... Lucky to get 40 hrs a week. I look you up tomarow. I drive that old beat up Ford with the threader and bender mounted on the back.
I'm on days. Everyone out there knows me as Gator.
ok, I'm on nights. Won't get back to days until after the turnaround. Will holla at cha when I get back on days.
Yeah Gator..I've only pulled cranks a few times with a buddy. (in his boat). Got my Predator set up for pulling cranks and spider riggin (which I've never done by my self either). Maybe we can get together when it gets back to normal here at the refinery.
Sounds good!
I'm happy to report that they are hitting cranks at Sardis today.
Heres a good one caught on a crank.

Nice fish major, we (crappiehooker and i) had a great time pulling cranks today, although we didn't catch any 12"+ fish , we caught a plenty of 11" ones and had a lot of action. A good day for a newbe at crank pulling.
I saw somebody pulling on the east side of clear creek across from the house with the helicopter.
That might have been crappiehooker and me, we started pulling there and we cross the lake and headed west...
Were you in a dark colored boat, i was in the middle in a silver tracker catching a bunch of dinks and white bass
No we to were in a silver tracker, a old one.
Ok good then you didnt hesr me yellin at my brother, it was somebody that got a good laugh.
Nope, thought it was Bill yelling.......baaaahahaha
I usally look for rock formations that fall into a muddy bottom and my cranks are always particurlaly small and never troll to fast for it runs down battery and most crappie arnt up for a huge chase like bass
Hmm im guessing i can give it a try, i bet thouse big females will hit them on the deeps, thanks for the tip man
I E-mailed Bandit about the depth the 200 & 300 would run.
JiI pull your 200 & 300 lures for crappie. How does the amount of line out
effect the depth at which your lures will run?
First let me thank you for using the finest crappie crankbait ever built and if you have not tried are crappie colors especially the pink ones you sure need to give them a try. I am fixing to do a new Advanced Trolling For Crappie DVD to replace my current one which I did before I discovered the many new tricks I have learned for trolling including our new crappie colors.
I myself use Spider Wire Stealth in 20lb for all my trolling, it has the same diameter as 8lb mono but has no stretch so I get a lot more vibration in my lure and when I stop the boat to pull a fish in it floats up instead of sinking and getting hung up and it is also strong enough to almost always pull your hung up crank bait free saving you a lot of money. I have found that with 150 foot of line out I reach my maximum depth and with more than that I create more friction on the line and I get less depth. With 100 foot out a 200 Bandit will run about 10 foot deep but with 150 foot out it will run around 12 foot deep. A 300 with 100 foot out runs about 14 foot deep and with 150 foot out it runs around 17 foot deep and that is at 2mph my favorite trolling speed between the water temps of 65 and 85 degrees. I hope this helps and to check out my crappie DVD's and for my new trolling one coming out in about 2 months go to Fishing Tennessee & jimduckworth.com . A lot of people don't know it but when the water gets real hot the oxygen drops out and I then I troll a 100 Bandit and it will run from 6 to 9 foot deep depending on the line you let out and a lot of crappie especially black crappie stay shallow all summer.
Jim Duckworth E-mail me the above. He also said do not forget the PINK colored lures as crappie really like them.
Tks for sharing.... Some really good info there.

and they won;t bite it. That and TO FAST. Nessa and I got 2nd place at Sardis a couple years back before I got the new boat pulling cranks behind the Fish/Ski boat I had. We were moving along to, Slowest I could Idle was 3.2 MPH. Here's a size difference for ya and I've caught smaller ones on bandits. Funny thing was he had the bandit mall the way in the back of his mouf. He was hongrier than Minner in a Boofay line

I've been longlining jigs for years now.
This crankbait stuff has me thinking of adding to my trolling repertoire.
The VISA card is warming up in the bullpen.
he may say different things at different times - i watched the series 8 midwest show today - and he said the same thing EXCEPT to add two feet. so in your scenario it would end up at 9 feet. no big deal but thats how i heard it.
what i dont know is if he was referring to a particular size.
I can't believe I read the whole thing............ Started several times, read a few posts here and there, but just finished the entire thing in one setting.
I think there should be some kinda prize or something..........
There is, its called lighter walletitis, once you start buying the neccessary equipment. I love doing it, you can cover so much water in a short amount of time.
Will pole angle, and distance of tip of pole above the water affect depth on the Bandits? Charts did not address that, nor did vids on midwest crappie. Did not see any mention of this. I seem to remember from my green carp days that if you lowered tip to water depth increased and a raised tip brought cranks up in water? Wont there be the same variable in pulling cranks? If one rod tip is 24 inches above water, and the other is angled up at 30 degrees and with long poles that may be 5 feet above water, it seems that you would have to let more line out on the higher rod to reach the same depth????
I usually add a few feet to the total out because I'm in a tall pontoon
