    Default Two man limit.....sort of

As promised here's our Sunday fishing report.

70*, no wind, water temp 81*. We hit birdbanders least favorite Ionia County lake today, the one with nice fish but an insane pleasure boat crowd. We had lines set by shortly after 6 under a funky looking sky and had our first crappie within a few minutes. I hit the counter and returned it to the water. It was a nice fish but we weren't keeping today so back it went. This was repeated again and again and again and after one trip around the lake we had caught and released 34 nice fish. As we started our second loop the water fleas, ski boats and wake boats came out to play making things a bit tougher. Add the gill fishermen anchored along the weed edges and it got tricky staying on our track but 3/4 of the way around we hit #50. Add the dozen or so bass and the same number of gills plus the crappie we lost bring them to the boat and we had a real good day. We were back on the trailer by 2pm feeling good about the day even if Jeff did get yelled at by a gill fisherman for trolling too close(we weren't too close). 1/16 jigs with a variety of 2" plastics, color didn't matter. All the gills and 99% of the crappie were keeper size.

If that's the last lake in the state with crappie some day, I'll be selling all of my gear

My dog sitter had to cancel for today so I wasn't able to head north to check a new spot. As a consolation I spent the evening at the next lake north of where vbottom & spartannation were this morning.
On my way home with a baker's dozen & a walleye.

Morning skies looked very weird. I think the wild fire smoke was building.

Snapped a few hand shots of a few fish before releasing them.

We got to around 45 crappie and we had to finish catching what would have been our limit, right? Well, those last five took a little patience. We finally hit it and it was time to get off the lake as the boating action was picking up.

First time I have ever been yelled at for getting "too close". When approaching other boats I pay attention to the direction they are fishing so I can go wide behind and if the are fishing both sides I pay attention to how far they are casting so I can swing wide of that. Did stick a fish as we approached and don't think that helped. Hate someone thought I was that guy, guess some folks are just never happy without complaining about something....

Nice mess of fish. Even though the sunrise looks weird it is still beautiful.

Vbottom & spartannation are aware that I hit the lake they were on & I've proclaimed hatred for this past weekend. No doubt great quality crappie!
I arrived at 5:10am Saturday morning, first in lot. By the time I was pushing off the line was forming. A local bass tournament was going to kick off. Before 7am the first water skier was doing hot laps quickly followed by jet skies. Trolling jigs on a new lake avoiding parked bass boats and the wave action was challenging but by 9am I had a limit and was leaving.

I will say that about 7:30am I switched from concealed carry to open carry and will swear on a stack that the distance the fast movers went by increased noticeably with 30 minutes
